Supposedly, Montreal is on Phaneuf's list (probably due to proximity to Ottawa). If the price is right, and Phaneuf's contract could look more like $4.5 mil, he wouldn't be that bad of a 2nd pairing D.

I think Ott caps eating his salary at 2to 2.5m.

Any predictions on who the Habs land before 3pm tomorrow? FYI, not getting anyone else counts as a prediction.

My pick would be Vatanen and Jenner a close 2nd (hey, maybe both)

I want a deal with Vegas to take Plekanec and his $6m. Love the guy, but his days are over.

Then header out and try and sign a guy like Hanzal for less than Plekanec made. Maybe Thornton.

That way we can fit Radulov (post expansion deal) and keep Galchenyuk. So much talk of wanting him gone, but a lot of the whole "he can't play centre" thing is a combination of him not being a natural playmaker (to work with Patch etc.) and sucking at faceoffs. Well, faceoffs can be worked at and assuming Radulov stays, we have two fantastic playmakers from the wing. Let Chucky be a scoring centre playing insulated minutes with the other young kid.

    Patch-Danault-Radulov
    Drouin-Galchenyuk-Gallagher
    Lehkonen-Hanzal/Thornton-Shaw

Beaulieu gone to Buffalo for a 3rd rounder.

Gotta think this is expansion draft related, but I hope they can go get some more D later on though...

I approve this trade. A third rounder is not worth much...

I think Bass meant getting Jenner was a close second option, not that he could be traded for a second.

Either way. Huge letdown. Not just the Habs. I was expecting at least one maybe two big trades today.

Ya exactly! But unfortunately not much happened. As I said in the Beaulieu trade thread, I think his trade was part of a bigger move(s) to come.

The best thing about Pleks is that is he signed for only one more year. So if they can't trade him, no big worries as he'll be off the books next summer.
