That is bad... just because he has a long Russian sounding name? that's not good at all..

Galchenyuk isn't a "good Canadian boy" so nobody bothers to find out anything about him.

That's probably true... but he plays for a Canadian team.... I would expect this from a non-hockey market.

It's a purely Canadian name; it's just the hyphenated part that throws some people off... he should just go with his mother's name instead of the full one:
Gal'Chien-Yuck (the Yuck name, his father's, is from Northern Ontario... his mom, Lucette Gal'Chien, is from Saguenay)

The same confusion happened with the team's last Quebec-born captain, Saku Korriveau

On a side note, can someone please explain why sportscasters in French add an ''S'' to Plekanec when pronouncing it? '' PlekanecS''

Or why Mario Tremblay says ''TomaH VaukoooMM'' instead of TomaS VokouN?

Every name must be pronounced the French way when they get to Eastern Canada. Case in point, Alex Chaisson was pronounced "Chay-saun" in Dallas, when he was traded to Ottawa it was then pronounced "Shee-a-soh" (as requested by Chaisson), and now that he is in Calgary, he's re-requested "Chay-son". Ridiculous.

It's Plekanec with an "s" sound cuz that's the proper Czech pronunciation.

It's VokOOOM because, well, because it's Mario Tremblay.

The name is Chiasson, not Chaisson.

Pierre Houde (RDS) asks players, personally, the way they want their name to be pronounced.
Plekanets, Hudobin, Beckstrom, Yemelin, Yossi (Josi)...
    I appreciate that. Players too.

Every Canadian market does that. It just changes year to year and depending on what part of the country they play in.

Much better effort last night vs Kings. At least they were not constantly pinned in their own end and the Kings' size made that a real possibility.

Yeah, much better effort last night. Appreciated Danault's game at center, even though I don't believe he can work as Patches center for the long haul. Is Patches playing hurt? He doesn't seem comfortable out there skating or even taking shots.

Price's save on Kopitar was simply insane. It's mostly luck, but he sure gets lucky often!
