So... am I the only one around here that thinks maybe the Habs should try Eller on the top line with MaxPac? Everyone else has had a shot.

They would re-acquire Tinordi and try him there first.

I hear what you're saying and I'm not against the idea (Pacio + Eller).
But the way I see things, the 1st line is the one with Gallagher.
I'm not saying Gallagher is the best forward, but he always find a way to make his line produce.

Eller did spend some time on Pacioretty's line yesterday.

They definitely going to be in sell mode. Starting now.
Only 4 players will be UFA this summer: Weise, Fleischmann, Gilbert and Scrivens.
I could see takers for Weise and/or Fleischmann. Gilbert, I don't know. No one for Scrivens.
What Bergevin (if he's still here in 2 two weeks...) could land for Weise or Fleischmann? A 4th? A 3rd round pick?
Nothing to significantly help the team (for next year I mean).
Do you see other players moving before trade deadline?
Let's speculate, just for fun (because watching them play isn't fun anymore...).

First step is the coach has to go. Habs fans have never liked him. He's lost this team. He gets outcoached. He can't fix the power play. He doesn't reward young players for playing well. etc etc etc.

He did during his first year which led to Gallagher rising and Erik Cole being shown the door. Then he developed loyalty to vets.

Since Bergevin made it clear he won't fire Therrien (this season), the only way I can see a coach change this year is if Bergevin AND Therrien are fired...

MB is safe. For at least another year would be my guess.

This is something from higher management coming down. They (Molson and the senior execs) obviously aren't pressing the issue to push Therrien out the door. He did a great job with the Habs but he's run his course...like he does with ever team he coaches. No adaptation to flow, the game and changes his lines way to frequently to find consistency and scoring than letting the team build. He will ride out the season but I'll be surprised if he survives black Monday.

its easy to sit here and say fire Therrien now, but Bergevin has already had these discussions with upper management. For Molson to step in now and tell Bergevin to completely pull his word fof the table, it makes the GM look back and instills little confidence in him going forward. The time to fire Therrien and salvage the season has long passed so ride it out. There some nice pieces to be had in the draft in the top 10, Habs would do better to get one of those than finish just out of the wild card spot.
