3-2 Sens win. They were down 0-2 at one point.

    -Neil with 2 goals, 5 SOG, 6 hits, +2

-Michalek scored and was strong once again. Really showing his speed. Again, I will keep on recommending him as a late round sleeper.

-If there is a battle between Zibanejad and Da Costa for a spot then Da Costa should be ahead. His vision is exceptional and looks like an NHL player out there. Zibanejad does too but if he makes it he would most likely be a 3rd liner.

-Rundblad was a lot better tonight. Showed confidence, poise, nice breakout passes. Some mistakes and poor coverage on D but that is to be expected. Was happy with him tonight.

-Filatov didn't show much except for the game winning assist. Really showed his speed and a nice pass on the GWG, which was created mainly by him. Did finish with 4 SOG though. Was robbed by Price's glove on one shift.

-Regin also looked strong. Should have the 2nd line C spot on opening night. Him, Michalek, and Neil were the best line tonight.

-Jared Cowen looks like a veteran out there. Also rushing with the puck a bit too. Bad turnover at the end but that's the only blemish.

-Not too many players who stood out for negative reasons. The Sens have had a pretty positive pre-season so far.

Not a lot of talk of Butler lately -- how's he looking?

Gonna pick up where he left off?

He's looked pretty bad. If he's not scoring he's not doing anything. He'll only pick up where he eft off if he plays with Spezza

I owe you some rep, but it's making me "spread it around" more. Thanks.

I'm missing the game. I just saw the boxscore and the line of Spezza and Filly must be doing awful.
    Spezza -3
    Filly -1

This doesn't bode well for Filatov even making the squad IMO. He is a goal scorer who hasn't scored yet despite playing with Spezza the last 2 games. WTF.

I really hope he makes it and is given a decent shot. Otherwise he's gone from the NHL IMO.

    Fingers crossed.

That's stats are misleading because Filatov was one of the best forwards on the ice. Really showing creativity and speed out there. Had 4 shots. Just couldn't buy a goal. He actually said himself that he likes playmaking more...

No chance he doesn't make the team, don't worry about it.

PS those lines barely stuck for a half a period lol. Filatov played with Zibanejad for a bit too. Regin left the game so they tried out some differenlt line combos.

Filatov was very solid tonight, doing it on his own, he's a great skater with breakaway speed.

Butler didn't look great one way or another.

Regin apparently hurt his shoulder and might be out for awhile, which bodes well for Zibanejad making the squad.

Rundblad looked better but still makes some risky decisions.

Lehner was hung out to dry on a bunch of the goals, the five goals against are misleading.

Neil might get suspended... open ice collision where it looked like he hit the Leafs' player's head, would have to watch the replay again to be sure, was streaming the game and tough to tell.

Neil will not be suspended. Incidental contact.

Rundblad needs to take risks. That's what he does and why he is successful. I don't get why people want to hold back a thoroughbred.

Second look, might not be incidental, but I don't think he hits him in the head.

    Big Ev and Soviet. Thank-you.

I've been getting nervous about Filatov as you can tell. He's an important player for me this year as I took a flyer on him compared to some proven vets.

Both of your assessments were appreciated.

Yeah Filatov is just making everyone say "how did this guy only fetch a 3rd rounder"?

Last game tonight. Forward lines from practice:

    Greening-Spezza-Filatov
    Michalek-Zibanejad-Alfedsson (love this line!)
Foligno-Smith-Butler (bad news for Butler owners)
    Condra-Konopka-Neil
    Hoffman-Da Costa-Daugavins
