    Default Is Letang this good?

I know he has been a touted prospect, but he has 15 pts in 16 games (with an assist tonight). Is he this good or is he a sell high?

When I drafted by team, I thought I would have Markov and/or Phaneuf as a possible keeper, but if he keeps this up (with a little regression), he'd have to be a keeper.

    Any thoughts?

I have him too, and I am beginning to think he is this good - he just needed Gonchar out of the way!
Giddyup! Don't trade him unless you get a hellava return!

I watched him since 3 years, and I really think he is this good. He is excellent on both side, and he plays with CROSBY / MALKIN ...

Seems like the confidence is starting to ooze, which is causing him to play more freely and creatively. I could be wrong, but based on the games I've watched he also seems to be hitting the net alot more than in previous years, which would make sense since this was one of the issues he worked on at length in the offseason. I'll try to find some stats to back that up.

Duncan Keith 2.0? An all-around, highly skilled d-man. I've always had faith in him (remembering his jr. days) when everyone else was ready to kick him to the curb as they fell ga-ga over Gogo (who ain't too shabby himself). It's just taken him some time. He is the real deal.

I am starting to believe. I have Boyle AND Keith on my blueline, but Letang has been by far my best defenseman. I think he will be rolling all season long, barring injury... He is the best offensive weapon on the PENS behind Crosby and Malkin.

I paid fairly large to get Letang at the start of the 2009/10 season and sat on him. Happy choice for me - the lad is playing with a snarl too.

    I think he's that good.

    I don't think he's 65 points good, 60 points seems fine. 50 to 60 seems like a fair assessment.

I think he is 65 points good, heck he could threaten 70 on this team if he ever starts clicking on the power play! He's not quite in Keith's league defensively, but offensively Letang is a stud.

16 pts in 17 gms, +8, 30 PIM, 4 ppp, 38 SOG. Ranked #17 in yahoo standard cats.

Although I don't think he can sustain a 75+ pt pace, this kid is for real, and I have been saying this for a long time to anyone who would listen (and sometimes even to those who wouldn't). In roto leagues this kid is fantasy GOLD.

Haha, was wondering when you would find this thread! He is right, though. While 75 points is too much to expect Letang is an offensive wiz and with his new found confidence should see a lot of points. Helps that Sid and Gino have no other help but Goli and Letang to score!

I posted 2 years ago if I should trade Mueller for Letang. 90% said no, but I pulled the trigger anyways. Had a good feeling about him and so far it is looking like I might end up winning this one.

I think Goligoski will lead the team by the end of the season. 55 for Goligoski, 53 for Letang

I think that is a very reasonable expectation.

I'll gladly take those numbers from a defenseman taken in the 16th round!

He misses the net too much for that many points. Even though he has improved leaps and bounds offensively, I don't think he makes 65 this year. He's very close though, we value him pretty similar. I suspect 55 to 60.
