    Default Doughty against Lidstrom?

I'm in a partial keeper league (we have odd rules in our pool but able to keep at least 2 D men year over year) and I was just offered Lidstrom against my Doughty. Should I jump on this opportunity or take the longer view? Will Lidstrom play beyond this year?

My other D-men include Boyle, Karlsson and Edler.

    Your thoughts?

    Thanks! - Chris

Lidstrom is money in the bank, I think he plays this year and one more year. I however would still take Doughty, he is good enough to still help you win NOW and LATER. It's not a trade of a prospect for a good player, its 2 solid players swapping teams and I want that of Doughty in a keeper.

If It was Lidstrom vs OEL or something, then I would of course pass..

    get me?

Love 'em both, but I'd rather have Doughty in a one-year or a keeper.

Forgive me Nick for what I'm about to say.

I wouldn't take that trade. Lidstrom's time is getting short, while Doughty's best is yet to come. For this year and maybe next, if Lidstrom comes back, they'll be close in terms of production, but in this case I think you have to look long term. In a one year league I'd probably take it, but not in a keeper.

There's no guarantees beyond this year with Lidstrom and whether or not he retires. You don't have that with Doughty, let the other guy deal with that. I'd hate to see you lose an elite D-man, even if your getting my boy Nick.

Should be close this year and next then Doughty plays another 12-15 seasons...easy choice

Thanks to all! I'm with you and will decline the offer - I just needed validation that this was the right thing to do.
