    I...am your father.

Default You Choose: A Forum Section Created For...

As you know, I wanted to give a reader/forum contributor a chance to show his/her stuff (actually, would have loved for a female to throw her hat in the ring...but alas, it wasn't meant to be). A good way to do this? Give them their own section in the forum. There, they can put up their thoughts and observations, answer questions, or ask their own. Maybe they'd develop a following, which would probably force my hand and perhaps take them on as a writer. Greater things have started with less, right?

Here is how it will work - I picked five finalists out of the 10 entries. You vote for 24 hours. Poll closes Thursday at 11:30am. The Top 2 vote-getters will go into a new poll, where another 24-hour vote will be held. Then the winner gets a section in the forum.

This took a lot of thought. I recruited the help of Jeff Angus and Russ Miller for further feedback. But I still had a lot of trouble cutting a couple of the entries out.

Here are the five finalists in alphabetical order. Please read what they have to say and place your vote.

JD, you have definitely increased your viewership around here in the last few days. It's easy to see that you have a lot of great things to offer to the forums, the potential is there. And who knows, there might be a TOR coverage gig for you in the near future!

To the others that didn't make the cut, it takes a lot of courage to post about yourself and what you could bring to this hockey community. Kudos for stepping up, it will definitely help you in the long run. The big guns have noticed you, so follow it through in the forums.

Finally, to the 5 competitors who've made the cut, good luck! Each of you bring a different style to the forums and clearly people have noticed. I myself have followed each one of you through my stay at Dobber's - so in my mind, all the above are stellar choices.

Edit: Fun fact - I am (or have been) in a league with at least 5 of you (DL, Emu, Shake, Metal and Praba).

    All the best,
    GMG

Praba/GMG. Tons of knowledge there, and seems like they want most of the community to be involved. Always a nice thing.

Good luck to all of us. Also great to hear all the different ideas that were floating around both, from the guys that made the cut and from those that did not. It was quite interesting to see the variety of topics / idea that were bandied about.

Just like other elections, it's private. You don't have to tell anyone who you voted for. Heck, you don't even have to tell anyone if you voted or not. It's your choice to say who you voted for if you choose to do so.

I'd definitely be up for that!

As Shoeless said : "Looks like the vote is polarizing around top drawer fantasy hockey talk and top drawer fantasy hockey entertainment. Don't think we are going to lose regardless of the final result."

Now, I myself think both of the current top "seeds" cater to much different dobberhockey needs, both as valuable as it's partner... so why limit to only one?

That said, put your hands up if you want Dobber to have a spot for each of the top 2 votes!
