Well looks like Hayward was wrong then. On a side note, Brookbank destroyed Clifford.

The numbers just don't lie - 80 pts in 73 games.

    31 G.

    8th overall in league scoring.

    40 years old.

    1340 pts.

And the guy could play another year or two easy.

I was expecting maybe 60 pts in 70-75 games. He even amazed me all year. Unreal.

I'll say it again, one of the all time greats.

That wasn't really a fight - Selanne never dropped his gloves nor did he even get a penalty for that.

Selanne did however had one fight in his rookie year:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6T9USuon6E

Though for some reason he didn't get a fighting major for that.

Then there's of course the "fight" with Tie Domi:

Haha yeah, my buddy showed me that earlier today...when he told me that Selanne scrapped with Domi I was like no f**king way lol. Its a really funny clip. I'm surprised fighters don't go for the nose-grab anymore...

Also jeff - Agree about that Brookbank Clifford scrap...Clifford got absolutely rocked his face was effed.

Looks like Selanne is waiting on results from his knee surgery to determine whether or not he comes back. Below is a little information I thought was pretty interesting

    http://ducks.ocregister.com/2011/06/...surgery/68267/

Before the draft, Murray said that Selanne wanted to have his knee examined when he and his family went to their homeland for the summer before making a final decision. It is now clear that Selanne was playing on a bum knee for much of last season, when he had 31 goals and 80 points.

“It acted up early in the season and then they got it under control,” Murray said.

Wow, this guy is unbelievable. Knee injury and he still get 80 pts at age 40. Injury is clearly the only thing that will force him to retire since age hasn't been slowing him down. No doubt it'll be a sad day when he retires.

The fact that he kicked so much ass on one knee makes me think he'll re-up for another season. He looked like he was still having so much fun out there.

Not to mention he was their best player in the playoffs, scoring 6 goals, 7 points and 12 PIM in 6 games. Absolutely incredible.

The decision of whether or not to gun for him in my one-year draft with my buddies is really busting my balls.

    Selanne is not human.

Everytime I see that "no words" commercial during the NHL playoffs and they have Teemu turning away from the camera tearing up... it definitely hits a soft spot.. Gotta love Teemu!

He is my 3rd favorite player of all time. Just behind Dale Hawerchuk and Mario Lemieux. I saw him play a lot in his rookie season and I knew he was destind for greatness. Did you know it was Tie Domi that assisted on his famous breakway goal that broke Bossy's record?

I would love for Teemu to sign with the Jets for one more year. That would be awesome!!
