Default If Bruce Boudreau wanted to play the numbers...

...he'd start Neuvirth at every home game, and Varlamov(when actually healthy) while on the road.

    Career numbers:

    Neuvirth
    Home 11-2-0, 2.12 GAA, .930 SV%, 0 SO
    Away 3-4-0, 3.62 GAA, .886 SV%, 0 SO

    Varlamov
    Home 10-2-3, 2.25 GAA, .916 SV%, 1 SO
    Away 9-2-4, 2.77 GAA, .907 SV%, 1 SO

Even before jotting down the numbers I believed Varlamov was the better option on the road. His unorthodox style is more proficient at stopping 2-on-1s and breakaways than Neuvirth, whereas Neuvirth style appears to be more technically sound.
    8 Team Roto League (1-year)
Cats: G A +/- PIMs PPP SHP SOG SH% HIT BLK GAA SV% SVS W SO
F: Ovechkin, Stamkos, Giroux, Perry, Tavares, Eriksson, Benn, Jagr, Heatley, Alfredsson, Roy, Hanzal
D: Phaneuf, Del Zotto, Kulikov, I. White, Goligoski, Niskanen
    G: M. Smith, Emery
BN: C. Stewart, J. Staal, Read, Brouwer, Ward, Hedberg, Pavelec, Bachman
    IR: Letang, Giordano

Too small a sample of games to really tell, especially for the Caps who simply don't lose a lot. Nice numbers dig though.

I love the original analysis. But what does this have to do with home/road splits? LOL!

In another thread he said that WSH plays very offensively on the road and sometimes leaves the tender hanging to dry, so more breakaways/2on1's faced on the road.

That's really interesting. I'd like to see some numbers or stats regarding that... it could say a lot.
