Neuvirth on waivers...what should I do?
We just finished our draft the other night and thanks to Yahoo's crappy ratings Neuvirth was buried out of site and not drafted. I drafted 3 reliable starters, but I'm not too sure how Turco will pan out. Having said that with the news of Neuvirth starting over Varly (injured again???) I was thinking of grabbing him and dropping Gionta for insurance. If nothing else it would give me a trade asset. Having the 4 goalies on the roster for a couple of weeks will give me some evaluation time to see what I got between the 4. Can't see this as a bad move...thoughts?

i would drop gionta and pick up neuvirth, neuvirth is already the starter game 1 as varlamov is hurt. Carry four goalies now and then you can always trade 1 later and get an upgrade at right winger especially when markov comes off the DL you could package and get a stud.
I'd pick up Neuvirth and drop Gionta too. I'd also look at doing the package deal as well with one of Subban or Karlsson in the mix to go after another LW perhaps.
That is an easy choice...take the insurance that Neuvirth gives you, as it is a lot easier to find a winger, than an impact goaltender. He may not be the flashy name YET, so if Turco gets hot early, I pull the trigger and get that impact LW.

I've been working a lot lately, so i didn't see that Varlamov was injured. I have him on a few teams. How long is he out for? Is he still #1 in Wash., when he comes back?
Haven't found any details. As posted here, it sounded like Neuvirth took the starting job from Varly, but I did read some where he was hurt. No details on the injury.Originally Posted by Gunfighter

"He's got a little something, and it's nothing major or serious," Boudreau said of Varlamov. "You read around how many injuries are taking place in training camp, and we still got 31 guys. There's just no sense in taking any chances. Anybody that has a little tweak, a little pain, a little ouch, we're just giving them maintenance days off." It appears as though they are all being held out of action for precautionary reasons, but we'll let you know if anything changes.
