Dumbest move you've made

I took Mike Maneluk fairly early in a fishbowl 1 year draft pool back in the 90's

he was playing alongside lindros and leclair in preseason and things looked very good

You drafted Mike "Man-E-Faces"?? Ugh.... I stayed far away from that flash in the pan!

But hey, this comes from a guy who traded Jimmy Howard for a 5th round draft pick last year! (that pick was traded for something.... I made a lot of trades with draft picks last season...)

Holy smokes, I hate the 1st one even more. Those trades are up there for the worst in this thread.

Tell me about it. I usually can fix my mistakes but it would be better to not make them in the first place!

In 2007 I made two of them:

1) Trade Jay Bouwmeester & Mike Green for Ryan Smyth & an 8th round pick.

2) Traded Jeff Carter & Henrik Sedin for Jonathan Cheechoo.

Oh, My God.... that second one hurts!

I did win the league so that makes it a bit better, but the trade still gives me nightmares haha.

Getzlaf for Forsberg... Forsberg played a total 16 games for me, right before Getzlaf broke out big time.

Worst trade I've seen (sorry buddy, if you are reading this!) Coming out of the lock-out.

Received: Sakic, Samsonov, Joseph, Mogilny, Zubov

Gave: Crosby and E. Staal... YIKES... he still can't talk about it.

Joseph got hurt in Det and didn't play much after that
Mogilny was sent to the minors (which I still think is a horrific end to his stellar career)
Sakic stuck his hand in a snow blower... seriously Joe??? You make $7MM a year...
Samsonov had like 40 pts, and Zubov about the same...

I picked up Leighton as soon as the flyers claimed him off waivers. When he got injured I traded Leighton, Gilbert, Gaustad for Roloson because i wasnt sure if Leighton would be a longterm starter & I needed room for Horton & Martin who were coming off of IR.

In my annual 1 year roto I drafted Stamkos in the 23/24 rounds. At the time he was buried Kopitar, Carter, Richards, Zajac on my C depth chart. I was weaker on wings and figured id parlay a young guy who flopped in his first year for a proven producer in Pomminville.

Well, I got my steady 65 points from Pomminville, only to watch Stamkos win the Rocket and score 95 points. Great...

This one is a doosy.... In a keeper league 5 years ago I traded away St. Louis for Kronwall thinking he was the next Lidstrom. Ouch!! Apparently I lost my sanity for the couple of hours that I was deciding.

I ignored Bryzgalov on the wire last season. I watched him get picked up by the eventual league winner. Had I made that move, I would have won our league easily.

I of courses lost Nabby for nothing and had to trade for Bryzin the off season, losing Zetterberg.

Last year in a Yahoo league I had traded Stamkos in November thinking he would cool down for Eric Staal who was coming off of IR in a couple of weeks. I ended up trading Staal for Jeff Carter. Thought I was getting good value at the time, but Stamkos continued to tear it up.
