who still owns Turris from his rookie year

just thought i'd copy and paste what dobber put in his ramblings this morning

'99 times out of 100, a player who doesn't put up at least a PPG at the AHL level won't ever do it at the NHL level. Points-per-game is usually the most important statistic when projecting future production'

and now sit back and watch everyone drop Turris now!

This set off my BS-meter. First of all, it's pretty easy to say 99 times out of 100 a player who doesn't (fill in the blank) won't ever get a ppg in the NHL. Because it's pretty tough to get a ppg in the NHL.

From a quick check of the top scorers, Parise & Green never got a ppg in the AHL.

and.....Turris went straight from Junior A to college and then to the NHL.

When he didn't make the team last year and was sent to the AHL I imagine the disappointment took a while to get over. Once he did hit the reset button, about halfway through last year, I believe as a couple of us stated earlier that he was playing at a pace that was better than point per game, just hadn't done it for the complete year.

I don't think Turris fits into this scenario just yet, he still has time to get there.

is it possible the coyotes messed with this guys development...I think he should have stayed 3 or 4 years in college....this would have been his forth year...then give him a year in the AHL.....but then again, maybe he really isnt a Star!!

I posted a couple of weeks ago in a similar thread about his future:

"Turris is averaging 11:42 per game. Good for 23rd out of 26 players listed on nhl.com. He's played in 27 games. In total, he's played 316 minutes of hockey this year. He's got 10 pts.

That's really not that bad. If he got the ice time of say Belanger, or Hanzal (almost double), it could be feasible that he'd have 20 pts in 27 games. That's a 60 pt pace in his 2nd season in the NHL"

He's actually 24th on the team out of 26 players as of today.

yeah, the moderation has become increasingly aggressive as of late...some may think that's a good thing, some may not. I think its a disturbing trend personally

The forum is moving servers. I'd put money on any missing posts being due to glitches during that process, particularly recent posts.

As a Turris owner that is anxiously awaiting your advice, since you seem to have a strong opinion, I'm wondering -- how many points will he put up over the next 4 years?

I don't need him to be a 3rd overall pick, since I didn't pay too much for him (so simply telling me to drop him and that he's a bust isn't helpful).

You make a call. Give me a number. Will he hit 50? 60? 70?

if he hits 50..60..or 70...hes a BUST.......what is it you dont understand??...Turris is a 3rd overall pick from the 2007 draft not a 3rd rounder........

thats what makes him a bust...his draft position to performance ratio.....

keep holding on to turris...my advice is to drop him or attempt to trade him IF YOU CAN
