Yea, um, I will not be actually, I should have added that. Its an expansion year and I traded a bunch of picks to make a push for the win this season, didn't make it, but I am two years away from competing again. I am so lacking at the LW i thought it would be a good time to trade him for an LW that will be good for longer... Normally I would have went after Hall, but with the expansions it is not possible...

I think I would. You have 2 good RWs already to help with the loss of Alfredson. Alfy is 37 and Vanek is 26. Alfy might have a better year than Vanek next year but for how many more years? Will you be able to get Vanek for Alfy next year? Maybe. Maybe try to get a draft pick thrown in to protect yourself a bit more.

I'm surprised actually... I just need an a decent servicable LW though....I think Vanek could get back to 80+...am I alone?

Thanks, 11 years difference is a big deal. This guy I am getting Vanek from, just landed Kovalchuk, so I thought it would be an easier way to pull the LW away since he has a superstar LW.... he is lacking on RW with star power so he could push a little more for the win this season than me. I am trying to balance my keeper list..lol

If you're not competing, Alfy is useless to you other than trade bait. This might be the best you get for him.

I can't tell you that you're wrong to think Vanek will get back to 80, he's done it before (but he was also +47 on a stacked line).

Knowing that this could be the best offer you see for Alfy, his producting this season means little to you, the age gap, and that you have high hopes for Vanek, I'd do it.

No studly prospects out there you think would be available for him?

I think Vanek is a 65-70 point guy but I'd do the deal, especially since you're not going to compete this year. Alfredsson should hit 80 at the most this year. I have him at a point per game but I expect him to miss a few games.

Maybe try and get a draft pick thrown in as well? It can't hurt.

@playmaker26, yea I was thinking of getting a pick for next season in there too.. I want to be tough competition next season(not the upcoming season) and Vanek being 28 that year will help.

I wouldn't hold my breath for 80+, but I would do this deal. I've got Vanek but I bought him low, so I can afford to be bullish. I wouldn't think Alfredsson has much left in the tank, and that Ottawa offensive juggernaut is devolving.
