considering some of the chintzy stuff called on the wings this period, i'm surprised that hold on Holmstrom wasnt called

Detroit is so smooth though, the way they play hockey. No great options and they curl in the neutral zone and regroup like the old Soviets, I love it. No panic at all. Man, it will be a sad day when Lidstrom hangs up the blades.

Yeah I agree, lots of those calls were warranted for sure, but to me there wasn't much consistency and I'm not saying the refs were biased against Detroit.

    Big win for SJ.

Could be. If they win in 6 or less, and VAN vs. CHI have a war, they will be waiting rested. The Wings beat you with speed, instead of making you pay a nasty, physical price. If the Sharks advance, that will be key.

San Jose is the better team. Anybody who thought this would be an easy series for the Wings was out of their mind.

and yeah, the refs were terrible on both sides...though you'd think given their history, the Wings would get all the calls since that's how they usually win games

Thumbs down Exploding Stick Helps End Game

Those darn whip sticks. Lidstrom's explodes and is key in the game winner by Thornton. Wonderful hockey game where an exploding stick plays a large role in the game winning goal! Drives me insane! All for what, 5-10 mph increase on your shot, if you hit it just right?

I wouldn't say they got hooped. However, they've had a handful more questionable calls made on them than the Sharks have.

The refs have been terribly inconsistent throughout the series(and the first round, really), so odds are one team gets an advantage just through luck.

If you think San Jose is going to draw more of an audience than Detroit, you're crazy.
Original 6 team in a busted down city like Detroit that needs some good news...

What does San Jose have to compete with that? Its first SCF berth? They've got as much drawing power as Carolina.
