    Default Howard?

Given DET's play as of late, will Howard eventually take the #1 spot?

Depends on what you mean by "eventually". I still get the feeling that Osgood will get every chance to take the #1 job back, but I see him failing repeatedly, so for the rest of the season I think that Howard and Osgood will get pretty close to the same number of starts.

Howard has been billed as the goalie of the future in Detroit so if your definition of "eventually" is broader then yes i think he will take the #1 job starting next season, barring a FA signing or a miraculous Osgood resurrection.

I personally would much rather have Pavelec. Atlanta is a good team and I don;t see Lehtonen stealing the starting job from him.

    Pavelec's numbers aren't that bad... atleast his SV% isn't

I believe McCollum to be Detroit's future between the pipes. He has had some strong games as a kid coming out of the gate at 19, from a boy's league to a men's league.

McCollum is the first none defenseman to be taken in the 1st round by Detroit in 15 years so that should tell you something about the kid. I seen Howard play many times at the AHL level. He's not a long term project.

There are too many faults and inconsistencies in his game. Buyer beware. He was billed as the future years ago. I think their future now rests on McCollum's shoulders and how he handles this next stage of his young hockey career.

I agree McCollum definitely has a higher upside than Howard but he is still a couple years away from the NHL and he isn't exactly tearing it up in the AHL.

He had a great career in the OHL, but I can't get over how subpar he looked in last year World Jrs.
