Default Brian Elliott - Get Ready

Your turn is coming up very soon. Leclaire has been awful lately. I can just seem Dobber smiling as he's called this but really, I didn't have him pegged as a star or anything but he's been brutal the past few games I've seen.

Sens fans, was he much better at the beginning or is this a case of the team being weaker now?
We get one of these - Don't waste it.

    Leclaire = system goalie

His numbers are good when the guys in front of him can protect him.

Totally agree...I did not like his chances going into the season, and is playing how I expected him to: a GAA near 3.00, and a SV% near .900. Not good...

It's not that Leclaire is a terrible goalie, but by the looks of it he might be yet another goalie in Ottawa just keeping the seat warm until someone beats him for the job.

Other than that one good year, can't say I've been impressed by Leclaire either. Elliott's probably as good as him talent wise anyway.

The problem with "system players" is that at some point the bubble will burst. The system can only take you so far, at times the lack of talent gets exposed.

Even Osgood lost his spot in Detroit many years ago before winning it back.

osgood is the quintessential system goalie, put him on FLA for 5 years and he wouldnt even be in the NHL anymore

Can't fault Wings management for that. It was only a matter of time before the cap catches up to them and they're forced to go cheap to fill the holes. I prefer praising them for their huge success over the last 15 years.

Ok, then let's put it this way then.

I'm not a big fan of Leclaire. Personally, I agree with everyone...SYSTEM Goalie.

Elliott hasn't been spectacular either. His stats have been nothing to write home about.

But, I do like Elliott more.

Who is going to rush out and pick him up off of waivers?

I do believe it's only a matter of time before Leclaire gets the yank.

At current, I've got two backup goalies in Varlamov and Niitymaki. Do I want a third?

Wouldn't waste my time on Elliott. The Sens are kinda like the Habs in a sense. They both invested highly into a goalie (Habs used a #5 pick on Price, Sens gave Vermette for Leclaire) so they keep going back to their prized guy until they get it right. So unless Leclaire gets injured (which very well could happen at some point), I think he'll get 60+ starts regardless of his level of play. So ignore Elliott for now but keep and eye on Leclaire's health.

Would you rather have Elliott or Legace on your team as your 3rd or 4th goalie?

    I'd take Legace.

I think Ericdaoust said it best........BE isn't getting it until PC gets injured. Now, it is only a matter of time. Until then, Legace.

But I'd think about playing Pelle Limberg before Legace.

I'm surprised Leclaire hasn't been injured yet.

I've said a lot about him, but didn't have the best forecast for him this season either.

Elliott is a much more solid goalie in my opinion, but obviously not as quick with the reflexes.

If Leclaire didn't have such a goofy stance, he'd make a lot more saves. He makes himself a lot smaller by scrunching up and squatting down. It's annoying.

And he plays such a desperate style I'm just amazed he hasn't pulled a groin or gotten knocked out yet.

    HA!

If I had any rep, I'd share it just for this priceless quote.
