Default Steve Mason -is he Pricing it?

    12 starts, 6 wins, 3.38 GAA .889 SV%

Now that is a slow start. Are there any confidence issues there? He is supposed to be helped by the Hitchcock defense first game plan. I may take a run at him but does he fall in my standard, wait a good 3-4 years before jumping at a goalie? I already broke that rule by drafting Varlamov but Mason seems like a good buy low candidate.

Mason's first 5 games: 4-1-0, 11 total goals allowed. GREAT start.

    Next 6 games: 2-3-1, 27 goals allowed.

Next, he looked great last game, stopping 36 of 38.

So, to summarize: he wasn't off to a "slow start." In fact, he started off great. So why the nightmare stretch?

Jan Hejda, Columbus' best shutdown defender, missed all six of those games due to injury. He returned last game and Mason suddenly played very well. Coincidence? I think not.

Mason will have some rough patches, but you should definitely look to snag him, if possible.

...if you analyze further, CLS has been doing well in the first 2 periods but get absolutely raped in the 3rd. They were beating PIT 3-1, WAS 2-1, and somehow went to OT in both games.....the trap doesn't work anymore in today's NHL but Hitchcock keeps using it.
