Bertuzzi is done

After playing in three full games now and having the magician Datsyuk trying to get you the puck, why has Bertuzzi had ZERO shots in 2 of the 3 games he has played?

You have to take into account that with bertuzzi\'s suspension, he was not ALLOWED to play during the lockout season. Then, last year, he had 71 points and a minus-17 rating in Vancouver, but never really clicked with Naslund or Morrison at all throughout the year (spending much of the year to get his timing back). Then, 7 games into this season he has terrible back problems and has to sit out for a long while.

This is the sort of case where the guy\'s mind has probably not been in the game for some time... Between the injuries (to himself), the suspension, and the ongoing court problems, I don\'t think he\'s ever returned to his previous pre-lockout form. He just doesn\'t seem to play as tough as he used to.

This is a prime example of a big tough guy that is living a mistake. This is how NHL players SHOULD be... guys should have remorse for things they do (unlike Simon and others). On the other hand, Bertuzzi needs to move past this mental block he has, or he\'ll never be valuable to any team in the future.

He looked alright in last night\'s win over Nashville. i think Detroit is a gret fit for him. They have skilled playmakers there and great checking forwards. They missed the Shanahan type power forward and Bertuzzi brings it. This is the ideal situation for Bertuzzi to resurrect his career - if he ever has a chance to do so. I think his odds are high that he will be a point a game player in Detroit - and if he stays healthy (AND resigns with Detroit), he will see 80-85 pts next year.

I wouldn\'t sit on that. There\'s always his injuries and then long periods of games where he just doesn\'t seem to show up... 80-85 would be a huge strech. I can\'t see Bert being a point a game again unless he is playing with crosby or ovech..

If he continues to play with Datsyuk, he will be a point a game player. If he stays healthy (a bigger if), he will see 80-85 pts.

Chances of him seeing that though are probably less than 20-1 but I would drop $5 on a payback of $100 on that stat.

Yeah Notch - Detroit has this flaw about picking up guys who are toast and expecting them to perform well. Anyone remember the fantasy forums from last year at this time about a certain washed up goaltender? Or when the Wings signed Hasek?

Just can\'t trust Wings management to make good calls. Look at where they are in the standings - pity isn\'t it?

Kalus is a bit of a running joke in my pool. We run a 10 team keeper league where we got to protect 10 players going into the draft. In the 1st round of the draft, one manager selected Kalus, because he saw The Score talk about him on a preview show. :P
