    Default Salary Cap Pool

I am in a salary cap pool that uses the player salaries from Fanball.com Fantasy Hockey (http://ptshockey.fanball.com/rules/i...hp?page=roster). We pick 4 goalies, 4 centers, 6 wingers and 6 defense. TOTAL SALARY - 60 MILLION. 2 points for a goal, 1 for an assist. Goalie wins are worth 3 points and a bonus of 2 points for a shutout (shut-out game equals 5pts). We only get 6 trades for the season and you keep the points you get from traded players and only get the points from the new player from the date you get them.

Trying to put together a team and here's what I have so far. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    GOALIES(4)
    FLEURY, MARC-ANDRE
    EMERY, RAY
    RINNE, PEKKA
    VARLAMOV, SIMEON

    CENTERS (4)
    BACKSTROM, NICKLAS
    CARTER, JEFF
    TAVARES, JOHN
    KOPITAR, ANZE

    WINGERS (6)
    OVECHKIN, ALEXANDER
    RYAN, BOBBY
    PERRY, COREY
    SHARP, PATRICK
    WILLIAMS, JUSTIN
    OKPOSO, KYLE

    DEFENSEMEN (6)
    CAMPBELL, BRIAN
    STREIT, MARK
    MARKOV, ANDREI
    LETANG, KRISTOPHER
    GILBERT, TOM
    GOLIGOSKI, ALEX

I generally suck at this pool every year so I am trying to put together something respectable. Looking for guys who can stay healthy since trades are scarce.

    Thanks guys for any suggestions!

You need to be focussing on value for dollar. I would look at goals and shots from last year due to the value of goals. The goalies are pretty good but I might consider Mason only because of the system he plays in.

I thought we were using actual salaries. I do not have the time to go through it all now, but there must be a way to put this in a spreadsheet.

    Looks interesting.

a few guys i noticed that were very cheap that could surprise and be very important due to points/salary ratio.
Brassard, Giroux Oshie, frolik morrow eriksson yandle goligoski barker stamkos and im sure theres more. 1 thing i would definitly do is change campbell for shea weber.

I threw together a roster for you to at least look at. Plenty of possibilities with a setup like this. This team comes to a total of $59,770,000:

    Goalies (4) $13.62 Million

    Henrik Lundqvist
    Cam Ward
    Pekka Rinne
    Simeon Varlamov

    Centers (4) $13.07 Million

    Jeff Carter
    David Krejci
    Jonathan Toews
    Steven Stamkos

    Wingers (6) $20.12 Million

    Alexander Ovechkin
    Ilya Kovalchuk
    Bobby Ryan
    Michael Frolik
    Claude Giroux
    T.J. Oshie

    Defensemen (6) $12.96 Million

    Mike Green
    Shea Weber
    Tom Gilbert
    Kevin Bieksa
    Cam Barker
    Kris Letang

Ok,that's two votes for Shea Weber so I guess he's a keeper. One thing I was trying to do was to match up line-mates so if I couldn't get the high point player I could possibly pick up the points with a line-mate. Do you think that's a good strategy or should I just focus on the goal scorers?

Your pool pays big time for goals, much less for assists. It also puts a big premium for goaltender wins and shutouts. I'd load my team with puck-hogging centers and wings, two top power play defensemen, and goalies likely to play the most games for winning teams. The last four defensemen would be about the cheapest that exist that will get some power play ice time. Here's my take:
    CENTERS ($12.96)
    Carter
    Toews
    Backes
    Stamkos

    WINGERS ($22.66)
    Ovechkin
    Nash
    Gagne
    Booth
    Ryan
    Giroux

    DEFENSE ($10.95)
    Green
    Streit
    Doughty
    Beauchemin
    Bogosian
    Goligoski

    GOALIES ($13.41)
    Nabokov
    Thomas
    Rinne
    Varlamov

    GRAND TOTAL, $59,980,000

    Best of luck!
