    Default Trade advice

Need some help with this trade offer i received.

    Offered to my team:

    Doan, Vokoun, Kubina, and Hodgson

    for

    I would give up:

Oshie, Berglund, Barker and the 7th overall pick in the waiver/rookie draft.

Please see the rest of my team below...I feel my team can compete for the next few years. I know i'm getting a lot older in this trade but is it worth it? Was hoping for some advice...

I would not do this trade either. Oshie and Berglund may not be producing as high as their potential is now, but they are still steady contributors now with high upside.

Danny it's basically Doan and Hodgson for 4 guys that will produce effectively for 10 years...Dont let your Canuck loyalty make this trade seem fair.

I'm not as sure as the others. Doan will likely be the highest scoring forward out of the entire group of players being swapped. You are very deep on forward, so it kinda makes sense to trade for more point production now. Its not like you are mortgaging your future here. You would still be left with solid young players/prospects like JVR, Purcell and Kesler.

All things considered, its not a crazy idea. I think I would do it if the stats were different. If Vokoun could count shots against and/or saves... and Kubina could count PIMs... it would be a much different story.

Maybe you should wave Oshie and Berglund around and look for a forward upgrade. Another idea would be to try and trade Oshie and Turco for a goalie upgrade.

I think you have the right idea trying to consolodate your talent and add more point producers. I just dont think this deal is the one to do.

    cheers,

    AW

I would pass. This season the gap between Doan-Berglund closes significantly.

Barker also showed glimpses of what he can do when he plays.

You are giving up a lot of years and getting a marginal edge in points in return.

Like the Nancy Reagan said, “Just Say No!”
    8-GM / WK-H2H
    Forwards: G=2, A=1, PP/SH= +1, GWG= +2, Shootout G=1, HT= +1
    D-Men/Captain: G=3/A=2
    Goalies: W=3, OTL=1, SO= +2, SV= .10

    Start = 13F, 6D, 2G / Keep 44 (3G)
    Captain: Matthews
(F): MacKinnon, Pasta, Marner, Rantanen, Malkin, Barkov, M.Tkachuk, W.Nylander, Pettersson, Gaudreau, Laine, Keller, Miller, B.Tkachuk, Stutzle, DeBrincat, L.Raymond, K.Johnson, Cozens, Quinn, Guenther, Kulich, Cooley
(D): Makar, Dahlin, Q.Hughes, Ekblad, Rielly, Werenski, Letang, Jones, Chychrun,
Seider, Edvinsson, Jiricek, Korchinski, Mintyukov, Ceulemans, Hutson

You don't really need Vokoun so that's where the offer fails for me. Don't really need to look further.
