    The Magnificent One

Default Getzlaf + kipper + what do i do??

EDIT: this trade has changed alot so look at the 1st post on page 3 and you will see the new deal we are working on.

here is the trade as it is right now:

    I give: Kipper, Dubinsky, p.Martin
I get: Getzlaf, Montador, Rick Dipietro

    my team:

Center :E.Staal, Datsyuk, Dubinsky, Arnott, Stoll
RW: Ryan, Fleischman, Horton, Clarkson, Downie
LW: Kovalchuk, Marleau, O'sullivan, Mcleod, Carcillo
Defense: EJ, Whitney, Goligoski, Niedermayer, Russell, Martin
    Goalies: Lundqvist, Brodeur, Kiprusoff, Anderson

    we play 4c, 4rw, 4lw, 6d, 2g.. H2H also.
    Categories: (7 Scoring / 4 Goalie)
Offense: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, SOG
    Goalies: W, SV%, GAA, SHO

what do you guys think am i giving up too much.
RD - i know isnt the best value but he doesnt want to hold 4 goalies so its a toss in coming back to me.
Mantador - nothing special but we run 6dmen and he will add 100PIM to my already PIM staacked team
Getzlaf - well yeah pretty good!!

am i under sellign the value of my guys or is this worth it?

you are giving up way too much for getzlaf

    i wouldn't do it

but I am not really sure how I would do it... Maybe post his team, so it's easier to play with names maybe

if you are not in contention this year, I would bribe him with niedermayer. he is done soon, and goligoski will be in the spotlight soon

also, try stoll or arnott over dubinsky. I think dubinsky is gonna be a pretty good multi cat player soon enough

    this is his team:

    C - Ryan Getzlaf (1st round - $7)
    C - Henrik Sedin (4th round - $6)
    C - Brad Richards (11th round - $4)
    C - Brooks Laich (14th round - $3)

    LW - Scott Hartnell (10th round - $4)
    LW - Mikkel Boedker (10th round - $4)
    LW - Pierre Marc Bouchard (13th round - $3)
    LW - Ray Whitney (16th round - $2)

    RW - Alexander Semin (3rd round - $6)
    RW - Jakub Voracek (10th round - $4)
    RW - Joffrey Lupul (13th round - $3)
    RW - Ryan Callahan (15th round - $3)

    D - Andrej Mezaros (11th round - $4)
    D - Joe Corvo (13th round - $3)
    D - Tom Gilbert (14th round - $3)
    D - Marc-Andre Bergeron (19th round - $2)
    D - Wade Redden (18th round - $2)
    D - Dan Girardi (21st round - $1)

    G - Marty Turco (6th round - $5)
    G - Rick Dipietro (9th round - $4)

    BN - Jean-Sebastien Giguere (17th round - $2)
    BN - Dustin Penner (22nd round - $1)
    BN - M. Svatos (24th round - $1)
    BN - A. Ebbet (24th round - $1)
    BN - Steve Montador (24th round - $1)

the thing is he is looking to shore up his defense and goalie.. but we need to do an even balanced trade as this is our first yr and run 25man rosters.. so we are looking to evenly swap goalies, center, Dmen..

i will be in contention this yr big time. not to brag but i have one of the best teams in this league. but it is h2h so anything can happen.. i am trying to get 1st round entry picks for 2009 and 2010 from him - the 09 will be 8th overall.

    Pretty interesting.

Getz is a exceptionally valuable commodity. You have enough in the nets to consider. Dipietro is artificially low. I could care less about Montador. Even with extended stats Dubinsky doesn't make much difference. Goli.... hmmm. Certainly boom/bust with him. Kipper won't do better than last year. Should be a few more seasons like it though.

If Dipietro played 60 games... hmmm.

So. If you're interested, I betting that the other guy is desperate for a monster starter. Push him harder. Make him come back again and again! Maybe pull Goli & Montador from the offer.

The kicker though, is that you have 4 goalie stats. Might be pretty valuable having three big tenders...

With Getz' age, all-in-all, I think pretty serious offer.

updated the above trade what do you guys think.. i am thinking this is not worth it. eventhough im getting getzlaf but i think dubinsky is just a poor mans getzlaf and with dipietro's injury concerns i cant count on him...

1)do you think the above trade is good or am i giving up too much?
    2) what if i could get him to swap mantador for gilbert does that make it better?

I like this trade for you, given how loaded you are at G and the fact that Kipper is advancin in age. Try to get him to replace Montador with a better Dman as was suggested, Corvo preferably, depending on how desperate he is - argue that (1) G position is key, far outweughing the other positions, and (2) you need extra to account for the poissibility that DiPietro is stilkl damaged goods. If he balks, them maybe have a deal where he throw in a 1st or 2nd rounder in 2010 if DiP doesn't play 40 games next year, and a 4th rounder or something if he does.

My point is, you have all the leverage here given your strength in G and the fact that he's more desperate it seems - make him work for this deal, since if you don't get it it's not that big a deal, and if you do, well you've got a killer top 3 C in Dats, Getz and Staal.

apprently he seems fine with taking the risk in his goalies thats the problem

not sure it will happen since im not sure he knows what he wants. and he is overvauling rick.

so yeah i threw in the 1st in 2010.. been trying to get that bc i do feel he finishes in the bottom 3 teams in our league even with kipper. and i want a shot at Hall.. so i think that first rounder will make up the difference. even if its not the 1st overall i could use it as leverage to get the first.

Radical thought perhaps, but what if you let him keep DiPietro and ask him to add Gilbert plus his 1st overall. Then you're still in good shape with your G over the next few years until Brodeur goes, and then you've got Andersaon and I would draft an up and coming goalie for future. DiPietro is really a wildcard - the fact that they brought in Roloson to me indicates that DiP is not close to 100 percent, I think his career may be in jeopardy. So let him keep him.

yeah i wanted something else but he doesnt want to be left with 4 goalies on his team as we only play 2. and its first yr in the league we just finished the draft. so kinda looking to do an even swap at positions. he is looking to upgrade in goal and defense. so thats where we are at.. we will see. im not overlly crazy about it but i did draft kipper in order to trade him for something big.

    you give Kipper Dubinsky Martin
    you get Getzlaf Montador Dipietro

Well, since you first started Goli changed to Martin.

What's the difference between Goli & Martin?

Martin is safe. 30 points for sure. Career year will usurp 40 points. Goli could be a bum or a 50+ point guy. With Martin you know what you've got.

I still have no interest in Montador. His biggest assest is that I have his rookie card, in the blue numbered flavour, rather than the gold numbered flavour (that idea), so it's a little more valuable. Let's hope $1 instead of 10 cents.

Dubinsky, knock 10 points off his total from last year to get a better feel for what his true value is. He's a great real player in the NHL. I'm not so sure in Fantasy though. I don't want him.

I suspect in a new league that Kipper and Getz would be drafted nearly side-by-side. Centres are much easier to replace than tenders. Kipper might have 500 career points (2 pt. wins, 3 pt. SO) remaining. Getz could have 1,000 career points remaining. I don't think the career year has come just yet. 100 point upside is there, particularly when you consider the maturing Perry patrols with him. Bobby Ryan is pretty interesting too.

You seem interested. Tell him upgrade Montador or you walk. Take a pick instead. Pull Montador & Dubinsky (old suggestion). Getz has taken the first steps in making a seat for himself in the Hall-of-Fame.
