EDIT: Hockeypoolgeek beat me to it by a minute.

The presser makes it sound like he's gone. Here's the translation from KK:
In Detroit there is wasn’t place for me and I didn’t want to go to another club. So i didn’t ask for a trade. Then came Dynamo with their offer.

I started thinking about it and decided to go to Russia. It was tough but this is not a question of life or death. It is only hockey.

The KHL is good league. I should be one of the key players so it could help me in my career. I don’t think I will close the door to NHL. I am young and there are still 13 years until the end of my career. I want my career to be more colorful.

Assuming Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen and probably Holmstrom are locks for a top 6 role, which two of Filpulla, Cleary and Leino benefit the most from this?

My guess is Filpulla and a coin flip between Cleary and Leino.

Well I hope Detroit can get Tanguay for a cheap prise but I dont think that will happin just because he was in COL but you never know.

If they couldnt or wouldnt afford Hudler I dont see them affording Tanguay but your right it would be pretty sweet. I love how people feel losing Kopecky, Conklin and Samuellson somehow make the Wings weaker. I'd rather Helm or Abeldkader over Kopecky and Leino over Samuellson. Only question mark is Howard/Larsson vs Conklin.

Since Tanguay will have a bigger pricetag than Hudler would've, that's not happening.

i am the freaking poster child for khl disease. I lost Jagr and Radulov last year (and Radulov again this year), and now Hudler. it sucks. Only good thing is that now i get to keep both Clowe and Eriksson at wing, and they would have been gone otherwise.

Default Hudler to Russia is a done deal...

    http://www.freep.com/article/20090709/SPORTS05/907090461/1053/Looks+like+Jiri+Hudler+is+off+to+Russia+

Don't know why the link didn't paste as a hyperlink. Long story short, Helene St James, who is often very bang on, is reporting that Holland believes Hudler is definitely gone. Apparently, he had Draper and Cleary call Huds, but he's just seeing $5 million tax-free over two years.

question. If the Wings and Hudler's agent continue through with the arbitration process (as I've heard they intend), and if Detroit accepts the arbitrators ruling, what does that do for this situation?

I think it all depends on Hudler. If he feels he is getting lowballed, he'll just skate in Russia, a la Radulov.

Wings could potentially lose a ton of depth:

    Hossa, Samuelsson, Hudler.

Hudler won't play in the NHL in 09/10. Holland is moving forward with that assumption. He, Nill, Draper and Cleary spoke with Hudler on the phone and they all confirmed that he will play in Russia.

Hudler doesn't want to play for another NHL team, which is why he's advised his agent to go forward with the arbitration. That means that when the Russian contract is up, Hudler will have to honor the arbitrator's decision.
    GO WINGS!
