#2 pick

Hey folks, I have the #2 pick in our draft this year. points only pool, I think I can get some additional assets from trading down to #4 or #5, are Kane, or Schenn that far behind Duchene for long term fantasy value if I can add to my depth, or another pick?

actually i do get the impression that they are. Duchene will be ready much faster and will contribute to your team within a year but i don\'t see either Kane or Schenn doing that.
i suppose it would depend on what other asset you could acquire though.

but right now, i\'d just go with Duchene.

You league sounds similar to the one in my signature. I also have the number 2 pick and as you can tell by reading the very bottom of my signature, I can\'t wait to add Duchene to my team.

I usually look for ways to improve through little trades like the one you mention, but in this case...I want Duchene and am not even going to attempt to trade down.

I guess depending on what someone in your league is willing to give up for the chance to get Duchene. I know alot of people would love the chance to have either the 1st or 2nd draft pick this year so it is a great thing to own.

For your question, I would want Duchene over Schenn or Kane. Both these guys will be great for their respective teams. But I believe Duchene is going to be the better point producer.

But I would see what you could possibly get in a trade for the 2nd overall? Maybe you could get #4 and something really nice or something like that. I am not saying trade the pick just see what could be??

I think I would need something damn good to pass on Duchene for either Kane or Schenn. To me it\'s a certainty factor. With Duchene I feel very confident he will be a solid contributor to my team. I have no confidence in Kane although his upside indicates I should take him before Schenn. I don\'t want to play guessing games with myself so I take the best of both worlds in Duchene. If I get offered something concrete to move down, then I\'d do it, otherwise keep it.

Did you end up drafting Duchene or have you not drafted yet?

I would also pick Duchene, as his fantasy potential is quite a bit higher than either Kane's or Schenn's. What Kane and Schenn offer their teams in terms of leadership/work ethic don't always translate into fantasy value unfortunately.

Duchene -- 90-100 point upside
Kane/Schenn -- 70-80 point upside
