1st + 10th overall ++ for Malkin

I approached a guy in my league and asked him about Malkin\'s trade status and he said he would be willing to deal him. I have the 1st and the 10th overall picks in the upcoming entry draft and he\'s interested in both.

My question is, who else would I have to add to the deal to make it fair value? He said he was primarily interested in young established defenseman, but would also take any other young high end players like spezza, toews, mason etc. Keep in mind that we\'re dealing with a salary cap of 81.3 million a year based on yearly salary instead of cap hit, so money would be needing to go back to him as well. I would appreciate any and all help that I can get. Would it even be worth it to pick up Malkin in my situation?

try send him spezza his way, he has a nasty contract.

i would try offering the 1st + spezza for malkin alone first, if he doesnt budge try adding in the 10th. some people may see this as an overpayment, but i\'m telling you, tavares is no malkin. if your team can afford losing depth than do it

I was actually going to say the exact same thing praba has posted already. Wow, great minds really do think alike.. HAHA.

Try and get Malkin for Spezza and the 1st and then go from there, just like praba has said. Malkin would be a great player to have on your team. You can really build up your team around a player like Gino..

I agree with praba\'s advice here. Spezza is the first offer you should propose.


Mason\'s value in your league may compare to Malkin\'s when you pull the salary cap numbers into the mix. I would hang onto him and move one of you Centres (Toews,Spezza) back.

he wants a deal centered around the 1st pick, toews/green/mason. I wouldn\'t have any cap room at all if I didn\'t include Spezza/Marleau.

gave him a choice of these 4 moves

A : 1st overall, 10th overall, Spezza for Malkin
B : 10th overall, Spezza, Toews for Malkin
C : 1st overall, Spezza, Toews for Malkin +
D : 1st overall, Toews, Marleau for Malkin

How many teams in your league, Potaguitar? How big is your bench during the season?

Depending on how many teams, and what the catts are as a Malkin owner you would not get him for anything short of

Mason
Toews
1st overall (Tavares)
10th overall

The Malkin owner has to 100% sure he is stealing the trade based on future projections of Malkins 100pt seasons.

Although --considering his value went up due his playoff run (could be the first player since Mario Lemiuex in 92\' to lead the league in both Reg season scoring, and Playoff scoring)
simply being placed in the same sentence as mario has lifted his value, let alone he being the first since.

sorry I didn\'t mention it. It\'s a 12 team league with 5 on our benches. The rest go to the minors.

Due to Mason\'s salary, he is pretty much one of the most valuable goalies in the league and I\'m really reluctant to give him up.

I would be reluctant to trade away Green, but if it means getting a player like Malkin back, then I would do it.

Well count me as probably one of the few who wouldn\'t chase Malkin in this situation because I don\'t think you will get an even deal - you must overpay to get him almost for sure and in many instances it is worth it, but you start talking Mason or Green, Toews and Tavares (1st) and I am thinking about winning without Malkin.
