Which of the upcoming draftees will be...

in the NHL next year?

I\'m very curious what players in the top ten at the upcoming draft will go straight to the NHL next season.

Should we expect to see all of:

Tavares
Hedman
Duchense
Kane
MSP (MPS)
Schenn
???

Its safe to say that Tavares, Hedman, and Duchene will get a long look. I see Hedman having the best chance to stick. Tavares and Duchene are locks as well. (Though many here in London would be surprised if Tavares surpassed that 9th game). The rest on your list should get a long look (up to that 9th game) but more than likely get sent back to junior with an outside chance of sticking depending on the needs/wants of the team that drafts them...

Lets do it this way... in terms of the type production they put up in their rookie year (assuming they stick)...

Tavares = Stamkos (will eventual figure things out... PP specialist... will sit out a few games for one reason or another)
Hedman = Phaneuf/Schenn (sizewise, physical; excellent in both ends; amazing hands for dman of his size)
Duchene = Berglund/Voracek (best all around forward in the draft...should stick and put up calder like numbers)
MSP = Brunnstrom (if he comes over...will shine here and there... some time in the AHL perhaps?)
Kane = Giroux (same as MSP... with poor attitude to boot)
Schenn = B. Sutter (ultimate 2 way forward who will more than likely get sent back)


...that doesn\'t look too bad does it?

Tavares and Hedman are almost certainties I would think. Duchene has a good chance if he lands on Colorado with no Sakic coming back. Kane may need to fill out a little bit before making the jump. Not sure on MSP\'s contract status and I can\'t really comment on Schenn. Then again it really depends what teams these guys end up on.

I would be very surprised to see Duchane in the NHL next year.

I have my doubts about Kane as well and agree he would need to bulk up a fair amount over the summer to make the jump.

I actually think Schenn has a good chance. I can\'t say I see the Brandon Sutter similarities however, except for the first name perhaps.

I bet Cowan will get a long look.

Predictions on some of these guys will be easier to make after the combine.

Well. From what Ive seen of the two. Both Sutter and Schenn play a hard nosed 2 way game. Both have a very strong work ethic and both came out of the WHL... and, thus, for this reason, share other similar traits/experience... But I suppose you are right. I admit that Sutter is more defense first of the two while Schenn is much more gifted offensively...

Im I making any sense? I pulled an all nighter studying for an exam last night... and its almost 2 AM now. Ill look at this tomorrow and probably laugh
