TSN is reporting that Boyle had a tendon cut on one of his wrists after the game tonight.

Sep 22 Boyle was injured in a freak dressing room mishap following Saturday\'s exhibition game against Washington and will undergo surgery Sunday to repair a severed tendon in his left wrist, reports Associated Press. He will be out several weeks.

Recommendation: This is horrible news for the Lightning and for fantasy owners. He was distracted while hanging his skate up and it slipped off the hook, striking him on his wrist. We don\'t know if it\'s a complete sever or partial, but Boyle is the oil that makes the Tampa Bay offense purr. And their defensive depth is not great. More on the results of the surgery as soon as they are available.

He is indeed injured...as was Lecavalier. They both get knocked down a notch...hopefully we get more info before my draft tomorrow night.

Time to bump Paul Ranger up a notch? Hmmm....

This is really not related to the injury itself, but more related to what I\'m going to do with Boyle in my line-up. I\'ve got a nice IR spot waiting for him, but T-Bay have to put him on the IR first. Any news if he\'ll be put on the IR anytime soon?

My guess is he will go on IR as soon as TB can do so. That might not be until maybe a day before the NHL season actually begins, but don\'t quote me on that :P

according to the st. petersburg times and john torcherella, boyle is \'not far\' from returning to the line-up. he\'s been skating since days after his injury to keep his legs in shape.

what kind of player he\'ll be when he gets back may be another question. i don\'t really know how severed tendons affect one\'s shot from the point...

I read the same thing - I have never been sure if they were partially or fully severed. Has to take him a while to get back to shooting and puckhandling form I would think.

It will be tough for Boyle to come back and produce like he has been after this injury anyway. Everything a player does is with his wrists. I think he will be out longer then expected.

I agree with the last post.

when he\'s going to try and shoot or pass he\'s going to need time to get back to where he was.

He might end up playing but I guess it would be more of a defensive role to start.

Unfortunately, no further details were provided. Boyle had surgery to repair three severed tendons in his wrist on September 23. He began skating only days after the surgery in order to keep his legs and lungs in shape. Once we find out more concrete details, we will keep you informed.

Boyle was expected to be out for up to six weeks.
