I figured this would happen...pretty much impossible to up the ante in the coming seasons after everyone gets a taste for free.

What does \"too many teams to have money\" mean? more teams could mean you need to pay less to get in or we could pay out all playoff teams...there is no reason the size of the league should matter

not sure of the outcome of 1, but #2 is on for sure..that was the whole appeal of the league...the relegation aspect

the million dollar question, is WHAT IS OUR LEAGUE NAME??
I have been calling it League X but that just doesn\'t do it for me...

as for the money and too many teams its like i said there are too many teams and too few talent on those teams. as for me im in teir one still so technically i have a shot to make the playoffs and make the money so to speak but guys who drafted young and have 2 yrs away why would they want to pay money when they know they cant win. its also very hard to trade in this league to make your teams better.. so paying money in my mind wont work. im sure that makes less sense but im just rambaling sorry.

Good stuff with all the discussion guys.

The minimum games played was only intended to stop any shenanigans where a team that may lack a quality goaltender and gets a great game or two by a goalie of theirs and then he benches his goalies the rest of the way. That way he gets maximum points for shitty goaltending.

There is no need to punish anyone further because the other two categories are cumulative, therefore the less games you play, the less stats are accumulated. I find this the easiest and fairest way to deal with any potential asshattery.

As for this becoming a money league, I just don\'t see it happening. What I think could happen is that those that want to make wagers among themselves (sidebets?) could do so and use me to log the wagers and amounts.

There could even be a group of you that wants to have a little pool amongst yourselves with the highest finisher among those bettors taking all or if there\'s enough guys, have secondary prizes. I\'ll leave it up to you guys to come up with something and put it out there.

I might as well enjoy it while it lasts, because I realize how hard it is to stay on top.


On another note: I have some extra depth on RW, I would be open to dealing Brad Boyes for a LW or something along those lines. I would also be open to dealing some of my potential solid prospects: Kyle Beach - C - CHI, Mattias Tedenby - LW - NJ (watch him light it up at the WJC), Patric Hornqvist RW - NASH, Igor Makarov - LW/RW - CHI, Richard Bachman - G - DAL (He\'s gonna be a good one, check out his stats) and Stefan Legein.

Wow, that\'s alot of players I have that are warming up my bench, it\'s kinda amazing that I\'ve been able to stay as competitive as I have.

a good question this morning.... i just talk to chicleteur for the part of the play off and i\'m confused for 1 thing.... actually i\'m 4 in my tier but 9 over all so normally i don\'t play in the playoff this year. If i manage to drop to the 11 place i will be in the play off has the first of the 2nd tier... want to know where the logic is... for this year... maybe the next year with all the people in the good tier will be ok but have some interrogation for this year...

I think that the top teams according to the \'all 30 team rankings\' make the playoffs... and that the tiers will be used starting next year - so the top team in tier 3 will not be in the playoffs this year as they are the 21st best team overall....

yes if i understand things correctly it is all based on overall standing this year, not tiers

Sure we\'re using an overall standing this year, but my comprehension (and that\'s wWhat I said to NordiqueFan this morning) was that right after the end of the season, we\'re put in the tiers based on our overall standing position and then the playoff starts as describe in the rules document.

Can you bring some lights over this Russ?

For the inaugural season, the top 16 teams as determined by using Chinny\'s excel spreadsheet will qualify for the head to head playoffs. The format will be 1 v 16, 2 v 15, etc and will reseed each round (best v worst).

The cap is going up Jan 1st to $250. The problem has resolved itself, there are no free agents of note that have not been picked over by the teams with salary.

One thing we (I mean I) didn\'t factor in was major injuries to stars. My injury to Brodeur freed up quite a bit and I\'ve been trying to plug in my positions that I\'m down projected games in before Brodeur comes back! Interesting how this is working out.:side:
