How can you not be happy with SJ?

Highest they've picked since Pat Falloon.

.... How did SJ not have the #1 to pick Lindros....?

Why don't I know the answer to this?

SJS covered up some sexual assault stuff in their organization (AHL I believe) this yr so it makes sense they get 1st overall.

I'm rather pleased SJ won the lotto . I havent paid much attention to their attendance numbers since they began rebuild but assumed it might be down a bit .

Oh yes... that is exactly why.

Or maybe its because whichever team gets the first overall pick, unless its your team, there will be some sort of conspiracy.

Would you rather of had Chicago win it... I can only imagine the outrage if they won it.

    Switching gears a bit...
Based on the lottery - which players do Dobber folk think are "value up" and which are "value down"?

    For me:
Eklund (SJ) seems to get a bump here... as we all expect San Jose to take Celebrini at #1 as future C1. Everything I've seen suggests Eklund is (damn near lock for) a future top line wing with Celebrini.
Bedard (CHI) seems to get a bump here... as I expect Chicago to just take Demidov at #2 and Ovechkin-Backstrom those guys.

Will Smith (SJ) now seems like he's going to be pushed down to C2... or... could SJ look to switch him to wing to just completely power-up that top line. (I think they prefer a Bordeleau-W.Smith future 2nd line duo)
All of Chicago's other young forwards: Reichel, Nazar, O.Moore all get pushed behind Demidov (I assume) for top line and PP1 opportunity. Probably big, BIG hit on Oliver Moore future value.

After those two... I feel really unconfident projecting any other players.
ANA probably going D... which could hurt opp for Zellwegger... but Mintyukov seems rising to cement his new future D1 esp w/Drysdale now in PHI
CBJ seems stockpiled at young D, so I'm thinking they are Lindstrom/Catton - but that won't displace Fantilli...
MON probably goes after a future C2 - I'm thinking the other of Lindstrom/Catton... if they go "big foreign D" (Silayev, say) for 2nd year in a row... I feel like Hughes would come under-pressure for not diversifying.
UTAH seems like an absolute lock for D.
OTT... whodafugg knows... but I like them for D because I think they won't have the cash for Chychrun...
SEA could definitely use a future D...

F/F/D/F/F/D/D/D... that's my guess... though NHL teams almost ALWAYS are drafting D before the rest-of-us mock them.

Dickinson vs. Buium vs. Yakemchuk vs Parekh is going to be major conversational debate over next two months.
I think consensus is that Levshunov is going first among those D.

Tij Iginla at #9 to Calgary seems too sexy/fun to not happen.

Eiserman also seems to be BIG wildcard.
Been a long time since top USNTDP player didn't go top 10... but it could happen this year.

Glad San Jose won the lottery. Very happy Chicago didn't. Over the moon that Montreal didn't.

    Just read Craig Button's "mock".
I've long harped Button for pushing a shock-value pick into his range just to "be different".
Did it he do it again?

Isn't Catton supposed to be top 5-10 (prolly closer to the 10)? He doesn't even have him in the top 16 lol.
