Well officially announced now... Landon Dupont becomes the 9th player to receive exceptional player status for the CHL and 2nd for the WHL.

Can't recall this much hype for a defenseman before, especially when he's years away from being drafted. A lot of pressure no doubt. Hope he pans out - apparently he's the real deal.

Was thinking this exact same thing at first. And then I remembered Sean Day.
Here's hoping DuPont can make it through the extra scrutiny and just play his game.

Ekblad carried possibly even more hype then DuPont currently.

I am looking forward to watching him in the Dub, when he comes into Saskatoon to play games.

Ekblad came to mind for me. I remember watching him a couple of times in Barrie where he and Scheifele were the two best players on the team, but the difference was that Scheifele was a skilled 18 year old, while Ekblad was a bearded man-child of a 15-year-old, and was even more dominant than Scheifele in those games.

Excited to see what DuPont can do.

Man, so much can happen between 15 and 18yrs old frame wise especially for a defenseman. This is a really early hype train for a dman in my opinion. Prolly warranted hype, but wow.

Doug Crashley, a Calgary-based strength coach who owns and operates Crash Conditioning and has worked with local NHLers including Jordan Eberle, Duncan Keith, Josh Morrissey, Justin Schultz and Mike Green, began training DuPont during the pandemic.
Crashley says he’s never worked with a player like DuPont.
“I’ve seen every guy out west play, including the kid in Chicago (Bedard), and I don’t know if I’ve seen a player like him ever and I’ve trained some pretty good defensemen,” said Crashley, whose son Nate also played with DuPont at Edge School this season. “In the playoffs this year and in the Mac’s Midget Tournament, he was the best player I’ve ever seen individually.”
