    Default Assessing this trade

I was offered Maccelii and Addison (SJ) for my Gostisbehere. I am not in a position to win this year (currently 4th but need a lot to go right for me the rest of the way to get to third). Would you make this trade? How would you rate the upside of Maccelli and Addison over the next few years?

Addison is pretty much worthless, especially playing on a San Jose team that is utterly devoid of anything resembling talent (apologies to William Eklund). Maccelli, on the other hand, is intriguing. He had a solid season last year (honestly, if he played anywhere other than Arizona he probably would have been ROY, he put up only 8 fewer points than Beniers but player 16 fewer games). His offensive pace is down slightly this season, he has essentially the same number of points as last year but he's played five more games. But he's doubled his shot total from last year. Shots don't matter to you, but obviously if you put more pucks on net you should get more goals. Outside of power play points and blocks, neither of which matter to you, his stats are identical to Gost's (one more goal, one assist less). The difference is that Maccelli is 23 and so he still has room to improve. Gost is pretty much a one-trick pony and while he's not old, his value is going to be contingent on finding a landing place where they have a solid core of forwards for the powerplay but lack a QB. I think (hope) that Detroit moves on and hands the keys to Seider next season.

I'd see if you can get something other than Addison (maybe a draft pick if that's an option, even a low one). But for a team that's looking to compete in the future, I'd take Maccelli over Gost.

I would do this. No big loss with the ghost.

    McDavid/Necas/ Kucherov/Bjorkstrand/Rust/Nugent Hopkins/Cirelli/Zegras/- Letang/Morrissey/Dahlin - Swayman/Saros/Skinner

    Prospects include:
    McTavish/Clarke/Bordeleau
    Dumais/Korchinski/Hutson

Don't worry I'm not going to say anything more than I have to. If that.

this is easy accept imo. I would do it for Maccelli alone so adding Addison is extra bonus i guess. I agree that he has struggle but offensive game is still there, you never know what can happen with young D. He could be similar to Gost at some point.

I would do Macelli for Ghost alone. Which you'd be doing anyway. Addison is unfortunately a drop anyway. Having Thrun, is the better long term option in SJ IMO.

Maccelli has made strides this season, not just in scoring but shooting more as well. His IPPs are also very impressive. And points only is far and away his best format. I'd make this deal even it was just for him straight up.

I agree with the consensus here, Ghost for Maccelli straight up is not bad. However, while I might be in the minority here, I think the Addisson "throw in" might not turn out to be as useless as others are suggesting. If that happens major bonus, but ya, as is, good deal for you.
