    WoW! This sucks

    RIP

Two things that hit me here, first my initial reaction was omg he died young, what happened?

Then i opened the article, and while he was still taken way way too young, i cant believe he was already 52! time flies...im hopefully hitting the half centaury mark in just over a year...crazy...still remember my childhood like it was yesterday.....

You gotta love a player who somehow had a higher ratio of PIM to games played in the playoffs than during the regular season. Warrior!

Guy has clearly been struggling for a while if you followed his story. The same year him and his wife (with 4 kids) divorced he filed for bankruptcy and claimed he couldn't work due to depression, anxiety, PTSD, arthritis and other CTE symptoms.

Poor guy, wish the NHL actually tried setting up a whole division to help these guys post career. I know it takes 2 sides to help something like this, but this is clearly a situation where you'd flag a person like this to try and reach out often.

This. The NHL has and continues to fail these men who gave the league and this sport everything.

    Frank Seravalli tweeted today:
Asked Bill Daly whether the NHL's viewpoint has changed with additional medical studies that show a definitive link between CTE and repeated blows to the head. "No" Daly said. "I think the science is still lacking".
For anyone who thinks the league cares about the players health and safety.

It's horribly sad how the league is dealing with CTE and former players.

In fairness, Daly has to say that, whether he believes it or not. The good news is fighting is way down, and I suspect similar fates will befall fewer players. Of course if that does end up being the case, then the NHL will probably say that proves it wasn't sound science, when in truth it was just a shift in the way the game was played. Too late of course for the Chirs Simons, Gino Odjicks, Todd Ewens and Derek Boogaards though, which is very sad.

It's definitely not what you want to hear from a guy who's on the board of the NHL Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. He's also the President of the NHL Foundation.

Like I get it because of his role he wants to not acknowledge the fact he should be spending way more time and resources on CTE and players post-careers. But he definitely is a typical head guy in a business worrying more about money than doing the proper job.
