Lots can change in three months, but as it stands right now, it seems like a pretty safe bet that the Bruins will trade Ullmark this offseason. When/if that happens, do we think they go with Bussi as Swayman's backup or will they look to acquire a more veteran guy given that Swayman is still relatively inexperienced (he'll end the year with around 125 regular season starts at the NHL level)?

It's hard to imagine Swayman starting more than 50 games next year, given that as of right now his career high for starts is 39. That means whoever backs him up is going to have considerable value, and if there's a decent chance that it's Bussi, I feel like, as a Swayman owner, I should be thinking about stashing him.

I would be extremely surprised if the Bruins front office elected to go with Swayman and Bussi next year. NHL coaches and GM's would rather cut off an ear than hand the keys to an inexperienced NHL goalie. As you have already noted, Swayman is far from a veteran NHL workhorse goalie and Bussi, despite being 25 years old, has never played an NHL game. If you can stash Bussi at little or no cost then fine, but I would not advise counting on him as part of the Bruins goaltending tandem going into next year. It could happen, but it's a significant long shot IMO.

The only cost would be dropping Brennan Othmann to free up my NA slot. But Askarov just got dropped, so I'm hoping to scoop him up instead.

Bussi I believe will require waivers next year. I don't think Boston wants to lose him. That could be a factor in where he plays next year. I guess we'll see how it goes.

You certainly want to do whatever it takes and as fast as you can to scoop up Askarov if you can. Askarov is according to goalie Post the 33rd rank golaie in the NHL, not surprisingly, bussi is ranked 93. Bit of a difference. BTW, I would not drop Othmann for Bussi, I would drop him for Askarov.

I am a bit surprised Askarov was dropped but that brings me to a key question, how many players can you keep?

Yeah, I though dropping Askarov was an odd decision, especially as the other manager dropped him to make room for Matt Rempe in his NA slot.

We use a salary cap for keepers, so you can keep as many players as you can afford.

I think the Bs had a pretty unusual situation and managed it to perfection. I think they'll manage this season masterfully- as per the usual- and there's a good chance that means greenlighting Sway for more than 50 games...

I appreciate that there's some logic/evidence here- I just strongly disagree that his games played will be a factor...
