Agreed re: Sanderson. He's already the guy in Ottawa, whereas Nemec is behind Hughes and at best would be on PP2 with Hamilton.
It's also worth noting that Nemec was a healthy scratch a couple of days ago. It's just one game and we shouldn't read too much into it, but at the same time, we can't ignore that a new coach came in and immediately benched the guy.

Agree with what's already been said. I think Ottawa has put a lot of their eggs in the Sanderson basket. Chychrun likely moving on in the next year or so. Chabot is there too, but there's opportunity for both.
Nemec is not gonna be handed things with the Devils competing in the next five or so years. Great defenseman, but the upside may be limited for a while.

To me Nemec is more talented with high hockey IQ but Sanderson has slightly better situation. I’ll calm it a coin flip and if Nemec or Hamilton get traded I think Nemec moves ahead.

With Hughes sitting in front of Nemec indefinitely and Sanderson's path way more open and his $8MM AAV contract, I have to side on the Sanderson side. Not to mention that Nemec has only played 42 NHL games while Sanderson is 3x that and way closer to his breakout threshold.
