Agreed. Any animus I have towards Vegas about their deadline maneuvering stems from the fact that my own fave team doesn't have sufficient regular season results or foresight to do it.

SJS is out of retention slots till 2025-26 season, they will be retaining at least 2 salaries until 2027 summer.

The 17% retention will be over $8m in salary over the contract length. They will be retaining over $6m in salary next yr.

Vegas is taking full advantage of their LTIR benefits but at some point they still have to find cap space next year when LTIR isn't a thing and their people are healthy. I know Hanifin is not under contract next year but that's an expensive rental.

You almost want to cheer against them now. Who am I kidding, I'm an Oilers fan. I always cheer against them and want them to fail.

I rather there be a playoff cap. It makes more sense to me to have the playoff cap if you have a regular season cap. I was just saying a reverse of the same concept.

Hope they do. But don't really care for any of the teams on the outs right now. Edmonton or Vancouver vs Vegas in Round 1......sign me up.

Good on Vegas. That's the rules and no better way to show how absurd they are than to exploit them heavily.

If the Oilers don't win the Cup this year then I hope Vegas sweeps every single series showing how silly this all is.

I am going to laugh so hard when they keep playing the way they have for the past 50 games and don't make the playoffs. They are under 500 since game 12 of the season.
