I'm also probably a bit biased as I felt like Tank was a Jekyll/Hyde player in NYR's 7gp series loss to NJ last year.

Tarasenko (50% retained) $2.5m cap hit for Florida

To Ottawa:
2024 Conditional 4th round pick (becomes 3rd if Florida wins the cup)
2025 3rd round pick

To note, Tarasenko has a NMC so he controlled where he went and essentially how much the price tag was. But with top line opportunities in Ottawa, he wasn't even a 60pt forward. He's a guy who can be on your 3rd line, PP2, but he plays a very "Non-Florida" game, so I don't like the fit, but I'm also not a fan of Tarasenko.

My initial thought as well, maybe it’s because what happened with the Rangers last year. Will see how it works for them.

Count me in on the pessimism side of this as well, in fact on both sides of this deal. The Sens got a pretty shitty return IMO and the Panthers may have screwed themselves by brining in a piece that could break instead of improve the team. We'll see.

When NY traded for Kane last year i was first one to say that i dont see it working out because they had too many of a same player. I think this is different, Florida does not have a pure sniper that does not do much of anything else, i think he could fit quite well. Time will tell.

As much as I always love/admire P7's takes... I'm also in disagreement sometimes. This is one of them.

Adding Tank here gives FLA 3 really balanced scoring lines (if they deploy them that way).

It's different than NYR last year (imo) - where Tank (alone) might have been a good add... but also adding Kane led to too many cooks in the kitchen.

Tank's been better defensively this year and (I'm assuming) understands his role which could fit in really well in FLA.

I do get Peng's point about not tinkering with chemistry (and agree it's valid)... I just (personally) don't think this will and adds an added dimension + depth (if say Reinhart or Tkachuk went down in Rd 1) that will serve FLA well.
