Default Montour, Sanderson or Byram, next 5 years ?

    Points only keeper.

Please rank over the next 5 years (this year is not important):

    Montour
    Sanderson
    Byram

As you can see in my signature, I have a solid team... 100 pts ahead of 2nd place... and I still have all my draft picks. I'm being greedy and looking for next year. I don't plan to keep Burns and would like a good replacement for him. I'm pretty sure I would be able to get most of the players above for a 1st or even a 2nd round pick.

    Thanks!
    20 teams - Keeper League (6F, 3D, 1G +1)
    Points only

Fwd (only top 6 in points counts):
McDavid, Matthews, MacKinnon, Rantanen, Crosby, Malkin, Greig, Tomasino
Def (only top 3 in points counts):
    Q. Hugues, Burns, Hronek
    Goal (1 counts): Vasilevskiy, Jarry

    Sanderson

    Byram/Montour

For myself; Sanderson is the clear choice on top.
If Byram is moved to another team where he gets more ice time and more PP time then I can see him being a better option over Montour. But for now I have them about even, maybe slight edge to Montour

    Byram

For me, this is just a function of likelihood of PP1.
    Byram, obv, last.

Montour, I think, is going to re-sign with Florida for $8m x 7-8 years.
To be the guy on that FLA PP1 for many many years. Mmmm. Wow.
And if he doesn't sign with FLA... he'll be PP1 for somebody else.
Ekblad is about to break like delicate china and FLA doesn't have any other threat (to my knowledge)

Sanderson is 50/50 on OTT PP1 time.
He might... be better than Chabot... we'll see.
    I think there's a split there and I don't like OTT's direction.
The team feels so - suspect - with their goals allowed this year...
It seems like it steals from a defenseman's ability/consideration to be "offensive".
(Whereas FLA has a system & Bob... and they're so good with their big D... that Montour can go be that "offensive" guy.)

IMO - this is an incredibly clear ranking.
    The list could change if:
    i) Sanderson gets a CLEAR path to D1/PP1 ahead of Chabot... and/or
ii) Montour leaves FLA or signs as D2/PP2 somewhere not enticing

^I would probably level the guys if ONE of those happens.
If BOTH happen, then Sanderson > Montour... but that seems unlikely/risky.

It's arguably even worse for Byram now that he's been flipped to the Sabres.

Yeah... who'd have thought it could/would be worse!
    Tough spot for Byram.

    But... ya never know.
Last year - IIRC - the teams with the best depth of BIG defensemen did best in NHL playoffs.
VGK's 6-man D group was incredible last year.
That's not lost on many NHL GMs.
