They had him penciled in for being signed before 3pm Saturday for weeks. I don't think it changes things for Vancouver.

There is some chatter that the NYR are making a big push on Guentzel (Friedman on fan590). But sounds like there are still a lot of contenders in the mix. It's nice to have a couple things up in the air this late in the process.

Well that's fun. Pretty much a perfect fit for Carolina.

#pens and #canes are in process of setting up trade call.

Believe the package includes Jake Guentzel in exchange for a conditional pick that can become a 1st, multiple prospects/pieces plus Michael Bunting. It's multi-layered.

#Canes prospect Scott Morrow is NOT in the deal.

So it's Guentzel for Bunting and a 2nd. Not bad, not great depending on your thoughts on Bunting.

Canes still have about $6m in cap space for another deal.

The Pens have to root for CAR to win the cup(or at least get the to SC Final) to get the 1st rd pick, otherwise its a 2nd....

    Goofy trade.

I was going to say something substantial, like hey, Carolina did well, today, or likely the inclusion of Smith as insurance if/when Guentzel leaves in July, but instead for now I'll just say "ayyyyyy"

Dubas is lucky he has a 7-year mega deal, because this trade coupled with EK trade and Graves signing = fireable offense.

Yeesh, what a shite return for the top trade target of the 2024 deadline.

Kudos to Waddell for the highway robbery.

How do you not even get a team's top 3 prospect for Guentzel.

Anyone will tell you that is what killed them in the playoffs last year.
I guess the smoke I talked about yesterday morning turned into fire last night.

Not a bad return but not a great one either. Carolina did well not sending out any of their top prospects in guys like Nikishin, Morrow, and Nadeau in this trade.

I wonder if it's true that Guentzel plans to go to Free Agency and won't sign with anyone until then. If so, that partially explains the poor return.
