Even with Mantha acquired, Vegas still has the cap space and assets to acquire Guentzel. I also see a likely scenario in which Guentzel extends with Vegas, considering Marchessault and Martinez are off the books next year.

Vancouver is up against the cap and needs to clear a lot of space to fit Guentzel onto the roster. I just don't see it. I've heard reports of them flipped Lindholm to Boston, but they got Lindholm to fill their 2C spot so it would seem odd to me to bail on that acquisition so soon to acquire a winger.

Edmonton is rumored to be more interested in Henrique, and truth be told I think that is a better fit for them. Henrique is an under-rated player who can play C or W. He's great at face-offs and gives the roster more versatility.

Florida makes some sense too. I think it's those two teams competing against each other. I get the sense that Vegas is more aggressive here and will get him.

How do we feel about a potential fantasy outlook for Guentzel if he moves to Vegas?

To me any move out of Pittsburgh is a downgrade for him. Not that there aren't better players than Crosby but just with his role and length of time there, I have a hard time seeing how he can fit in and maintain his deployment and level of play.

Yeah... any change is downgrade for Guentzel.
I mean... not only is playing with Crosby great - but it's always an undervalued thing the chemistry between passer-scorer.

VGK sure seems like the "fit".
Their system seems able to flex in new players really well.
I swear those uniforms and their style just make it so hard to pin-down specific players.
Everytime I watch VGK - every shift feels "similar"... makes it nice for the team to just flex players btw lines.
IMO - that's best destination for Guentzel - and he should slide onto PP1 too.
I think he'll do 90% production there vs. PIT.

Definite downgrade in production for JG in Vegas. So much more depth in Vegas so the scoring will be spread out more than in Pittsburgh.

Lindholm has been on our 3rd line and hasn't been a great fit thus far. Mind you the whole team has been sputtering since he has arrived. I don't see them flipping him either, that would be quite the juggle and very unheard of.

Just putting it out there, Vegas plays at home Thursday (Canucks) and Saturday (Red Wings). Trade being done by tmo would have Guentzel in the Vegas lineup Thursday.

There's a lot of online smoke around Guentzel and Carolina. They definitely have the prospect assets Pittsburgh would value (they have said they dont want picks for him) in order to make a trade like this happen and god knows Carolina can use offense. Anyone will tell you that is what killed them in the playoffs last year.

Ya I think it's Vegas leaving the door open, but not going to break the bank on him. They have the number and Pitts is just weighing the options between the teams.

Reports now that Vancouver might be close to signing Kessel. Does that signal a white flag waiving on their pursuit of Guentzel?
