    Default Better Prospect Keeper: Perfetti or Askarov?

    For the team in my signature, we can keep one extra prospect player as long as they have played fewer than 162 NHL games and have never played a game on our roster. I currently have Perfetti (who will hit 162 games next season and need to be activated). Askarov is sitting as a free agent and won’t hit 162 games for a few years. Who is the better guy to drop into my prospect keeper spot?

    I’m not sure Perfetti makes his way into the top 6 / PP1 with consistent results by next year. I did well in the past holding Oettinger as a prospect keeper until this year, so I’m wondering that’s the route I should go.

    I'd take Askarov personally. Perfetti will be good but not replace any of your current keepers when he crosses that threshold. I think it's likelier that Askarov becomes a top tier goalie by the time his 162 are up than Perfetti becomes a top tier forward next year.

    Perfetti as I don't think Askarov is going to be any good.

    Askarov over Perfetti, but my only concern is how many other prospects are you going to have to pass over while you wait and keep him in that slot.

    Came here to post this. Unless the Preds trade Saros, it's going to take a long time for Askarov to hit 162 games played.

    This is a good point. That being said, I'm still going with Askarov as I think his fantasy speculation value will be higher than Perfetti's. I would think you could deal him to someone hungrier for goaltending stability and get someone better than Perfetti. Especially now, with Perfetti's value at a low point.
