Evgeny Kuznetsov carries a $7.8M cap charge through the end of next season. He's owed $8M in actual compensation next year, including a $2M signing bonus.
It's hard to imagine anyone claiming the former star centre off waivers as a result.

It's really none of our damn business, but does anyone know why he was in the Player Assistance Program? Wonder if it's related to that. Either way, hope he's OK and ends up somewhere he's happy. Good player for a long time.
Edit: Hmm, just read that in 2019 he was banned for playing for Russia for four years for cocaine use. Could have nothing at all to do with his current situation. But I never knew that.

Wow. I remember drafting him in like the 3rd round of one of my first dynasty keeper leagues. There was 24 teams in this league so he went really late. Everyone was afraid to draft him because of his intentions to stay in the KHL. I hope he is alright. Are they planning on sending him down?

if he clears , would the caps be motivated to retain a percentage of his salary (lets say 2.8 mil thus reducing his cap hit to 5.0 )
mcphee (vegas) knows this player well and trotz (preds) seemed to get the most out of him

He's still got one more year on his contract too so teams would need to find room next season for that contract too. You'd have to think there would be a few teams lined up if he was on an expiring contract.
