Honestly, how much more would Tanev do to the organization chances at winning a cup over Lyb? I see this as a Timmins body replacement, and not a top 6 replacement, and to do that they needed 2 teams to retain salary and get his cap below league min. The price was an overpay, but you're like overpaying for penny candies with a nickel.
The Leafs sent a 2nd round pick in a draft that hasn't happened yet for Lyb 2 years ago lol. That's pretty funny.

Could be, but that would probably have more to do with Fowler being injured last night rather than this trade. The Ducks AHL team have recalled a forward and defenseman from the ECHL who will presumably replace the players being called up to the NHL today but no NHL roster moves announced yet

A funny thing about Lyubishkin and the Leafs.
The Leafs originally acquired him back in 2022 from Arizona along with Ryan Dzingel. Going back to Arizona was Nick Ritchie and a conditional 2025 2nd round pick.
Lyubishkin has been there, gone and back again and the pick they traded for him the 1st time still hasn't been used yet.
Toronto has traded a 2025 2nd, a 2025 3rd and a 2024 6th for Lyubishkin.
