    Default Who are my keepers?

After being eliminated in the first round of our playoffs, my season is over and I'm starting to think about my keepers for next year.

Looking at my signature, who would you keep? I only plan to keep 8 players. Don't worry about salary because I have plenty of cap space.
    12 team, H2H, salary cap
    1 pt/G or A, 2 pts/W, 1 pt/OTL, 1 pt/SO

    Forward: B. Point, M. Necas, A. Debrincat, T. Zegras, J. Bratt, L. Raymond
    Defense: J. Morrissey, A. DeAngelo, S. Gostisbehere, D. Doughty
    Goalie: T. Demko, E. Merzlikins
    Bench: M. Rossi, C. Glass, M. Maccelli, M. Dumba, K. Shattenkirk, F. Andersen
Prospects of Note: L. Stankoven, J. Lekkerimaki, D. Yurov, B. Clarke

    1. Demko
    2. Morrissey
    3. Point
    4. DeBrincat
    5. Bratt
    6. Zegras (potential still there)
    7. Necas
    ......
That leaves a decision on #8 btw Raymond/Ghost/Doughty
Assuming it is 6F/4D by players in SIG... I think you still got hold 2D, which means Doughty is my #8.

    Forwards should be very plentiful in high-quality in a 12-team x 6F (72 counting F).

I like the first 7 above.

My read is you want Raymond as your 8th. Your team lacks strong star power, and likely isn't a front runner in the near future. If your team was a favorite for the championship next year I'd like Pen7s argument from positional value better.

Raymond's just passed his breakout threshold and has been near a ppg on a winning Wings team for the past 25 games or so. He's looking legit.

LW: B. Tkachuk, Stutzle (c), Colton (c), Ehlers
RW: Rantanen, Caufield (lw), Svechnikov (lw), Foegele (lw)
D: Dahlin, Andersson, Chychrun, Montour, Sanheim, Matheson, Faber (p)
G: Talbot, Forsberg, Daws (p), Wolf (p, NA)
    IR: Fantilli, Sergachev, Jeannot, Ingram
    NA: Levi

    Great insight, Pen and Locke.

I didn't list my keepers so as not to bias the responses, but I was leaning this way:

    1. Demko
    2. Morrissey
    3. Point
    4. DeBrincat
    5. Bratt
    6. Zegras
    7. Raymond

My last keeper was between Necas and Gostisbehere. FWIW, Doughty has very little value in this league. He was a late season waiver wire pick up for me. I can't completely explain why...part of it is his age and salary. A lot of these older, more expensive dman have little value and can be grabbed late in the draft, so I usually expect that and grab someone like Doughty late.

My team is indeed a bottom-feeder. I am not in contention anytime soon, unfortunately. Raymond has value for me given his age.

I like Necas more than Gostisbehere but neither player excites me all that much.

Wow - to be honest, I've been unaware of how good Lucas Raymond has been doing this season.
Wow - yeah, you definitely want to keep him over Necas.
(I haven't watched enough Red Wing games this season!!!)

I like this list and Necas is my last keep. There still remains, IMO, a lot of uncertainty with Ghost.

I really want Rossi to make my keeper list.

I had him last year, dropped him in the off-season, and they reacquired him via trade (paid a steep price too) when he went on a bit of a streak earlier this year. I absolutely hate it when you have a young player on your roster for a couple of years and then let him go to see him break out on another roster. He's trending as a drop right now unless he finishes the season strongly.
