Got offered Lane Hutson for my Stankoven

I'm a habs fan and the other owners knows it.

I don't want my homerism to interfere with this so I'm asking you guys what do you think about this trade?

i dont think either of these guys are going hit the ground running when they come to NHL. I think they will both struggle with their size and it will be up hill battle.

and when it comes to that its definitely easier to find your game as a F than D. I would keep Stankoven here.

It’s depend on if you like to gamble for the homerun. If Hudson hit like we hope, it will be a superstar and his value will be far more than Stankoven. But there is more risk with Hudson that he will maybe never even be a nhler.
I think Stankoven will be a nhler but I don’t think he will become a superstar, more a 70 points foward, witch is very good and safe.
Myself, I like to gamble when it come tu fantasy hockey, so I would prefer Hudson.

My preference is Stankoven here. Less expectations coming in and should have a better surrounding crowd to help him flourish. I also tend to avoid smaller, one dimensional Dmen.

Stankoven for me, but not because I doubt Hutson - he’s a sure fire NHLer although it’s possible he maxes out as a PP specialist like Krug or Barrie. Personally I think he’ll be better than that though, despite his size - his WJC play proved they’ve can be successful in the D zone and relied on for that, not only his O chops.

Just because he could be a huge reward, I’m taking Hutson here. I think Montreal will give him all the time he will need to succeed. Then deal him, ala Sergachev and Romanov. JK but I’m taking Hutson here.

Small stature is no longer the impediment to NHL success that it once was (he says after having just traded away Marco Rossi for Juraj Slafkovsky), although as Axeman mentions, with Hutson being a defenseman his size might still work against him to some extent.

Still, I tend to think that with prospect stashes you want to take the biggest swing you can, which for me me means Hutson. The fact that you're a Habs fan just adds to the case for him. If he pans out, you get to watch him on your favourite team knowing that he's helping your fantasy squad at the same time.

Stankoven played 15 minutes on Saturday with Benn and Johnston and that line scored the gwg. The organization believes in him and wants him to succeed, I would stick with that. Watch his highlight reels, he uses his size really well, which is something usually said about players with more of it.

To the posters saying Stanky leg looks like a safe 70 point player with no real superstar upside- I just have to disagree pretty adamantly. He IS and always has been a remarkable talent. The reality is Stankoven is pretty much Hutson wrot as a forward lol! Hes got 90+ point upside- he could break 100 when its all said and done. I'm not guaranteeing thats where he ends up I'm just saying his upside at his respective position is eerily similar to Hutsons- as are their smaller heights and propensity for "all offense all the time" dispositions...

I'm probably partial a little bit but I think.its so close I can leave my bias at the door. This would have so much more to do with your team comp in my opinion. Need a D take Hutson. Need a forward? Take stanky leg.

Either way I think they'll both take a long time to get cooking- I think both are pretty important parts of their teams futures and each has "gamebreaker" as a potential outcome with a pretty safe "star" level floor imho....

Always head over heart in fantasy hockey if you are in it to win it. Your heart is just if you are in it to cheer for your favorite players. Not sure how Hutson can be a favorite yet seeing as he's not even playing in the league.
