It's not, but it's "perceived" in that way by enough people that it makes a big difference in the voting.

I agree, if he hits 70 then it should be his.

In the absence of a good Hart poll - I think he will get the Hart if he finishes above 70 goals and at least 105 points, given that he's also in some Selke conversations, and no other player is above 145p. Not 'conversation over', just likely enough.

No need for a pool. For now the conversation is over.

Owen Hart is the best Hart.

No way he gets it unless Toronto starts winning. They’re barely in a playoff spot. Matthews is having a historic season and he’s on the only team that exists according to Canadian sports media however he’s still not helping them win. I still don’t rule out McDavid for the Art Ross he always seems to will himself to excellence and because he’s so much better than everyone else he seems to drag the team with him. He’s got some catching up to do but if there’s a player who can it’s him. Kucherov just doesn’t stop. And usually the guy with the most points is the favorite but Tampa is in even worse spot than Toronto so I don’t know. Mackinnon is one of my favs and he is looking almost like McDavid willing Colorado back to cup champs. It’s pretty open. I agree with Mathew’s gaudy goal totals he is up there for a favorite but if you get 70 goals and just crack 100 points I mean cmon. It’s not like he doesn’t have talent around him.

first of all, they won 6 straight and are 8-2 in last 10 so the start winning part is bit late.

in 6 straight they won Matthews scored 9 goals so u can argue that team goes as he goes which is true meaning of MVP.

you can argue who deserves it more and we all have our opinions on that but your reasoning for AM not winning t couldn’t be more wrong.

Dude they are in third in the Atlantic after that “Streak” and they have Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Reilly. No you need to explain why what Matthews is doing is relevant to the teams success because sneaking into the playoffs with a 70 goal scorer tells me selfish player and yet has so much talent around him. We can discuss and I’d hope you’d do so respectfully but to say I’m just wrong you need to justify your position because a 100 point player on a team sneaking into the playoffs with so much talent doesn’t spell Hart trophy to me except for the awful Canadian media who will vote Toronto.

6 wins in a row…9 goals…its exact explanation why your previous post is wrong

also if 4 names like this = Stanley cup why play games?

and your explanation is they are 3rd in Atlantic....other 3 strong candidates

    Tampa is 5th
    Edmonton is 3rd
    Colorado is 3rd...

Is 70 goals more impressive than 100 assists?

since technically each goal has 2 assists i would say 50 goals is same as 100 assist. Or close
