The sense was actually that the fact that Nashville was making him available, and multiple teams passed, was a red flag regarding Askarov. I thought he was a grade A goalie prospect, so this was surprising to me.

Definitely don't give up Bedard for him.
I am curious where you are getting this information from. Is this something you just see yourself and think is accurate? Did you read this from a scout somewhere? From a goalie coach? Pulling it out of your arse?

While I agree with you that giving up Bedard for him is not a smart move, I do not understand where you are getting the "weak with his gloves" take. Please elaborate. Considering most scouts admit they struggle to evaluate a goalies future, I am curious how you feel so confident in this information. As it stands today, his "weak gloves" isn't an issue against international play and AHL shooters.

Well, I wouldn't find it too surprising if he was made available and teams passed depending on what the ask was. But in this case, an offer consisting of a well-regarded 1st round goalie prospect (to a team in need of one) plus another 1st round pick in exchange for the #5 pick that turns into Reinbacher seems to be putting a lot of stock into Reinbacher. Could turn out to be the right move. Could also turn out to be a colossal blunder, hence my comment.
