Default Did I miss my buy low window on Slaf?

After a very slow start to the year, Slaf has had 14 points in his last 19 games and has looked solid from the few games IÂ’ve seen.

IÂ’m in a 20 team dynasty league where Goals are worth 2 Pts, Assists are worth 1 Point, and Hits/Blocks are worth 0.1 Pts.

To any Slaf owners out there, what type of return would you be looking for if you were to trade him?

I have seen Slaf’s play close up on several occasions. He has figured it out, and it’s only going to get better. Once he really perfects using his size, watch out.

I’d say unless the owner is a habs fan who pays close attention, NOW is the time to nab him. Price is only going to rise from here.

I’m not saying he won’t go though slumps and it’s going to be a super linear upward trend when it comes to points especially - there will be lumpiness for sure - but once he’s 22-23 he’ll be a rock solid all-around contributor and fantasy keeper.

    he turns 20 in March

I figure he finishes the season at 15G and 42 points, not bad after a very slow start.

    Age 20/21 season - 22G and 52 points

    Age 21/22 season - 25G and 59 points

    Age 22/23 season - 29G and 69 points

From there, not sure his highest end upside, will depend on lots of factors. But I figure he’s a good bet for a perennial 30/70 guy.

the only way you will have buy low window on 20 years olds is if you deal with an inexperienced GM with low patience threshold. Otherwise there is no such thing imo. Only way you buy low is if he takes off and then slumps for longer period of time. But if you got offer in mind post it here and we can try our best to asses it and give you constructive criticism.

This is good insight. The owner is not a Habs fan, but he is in a rebuild so Slaf fits the player profile of who he wants to own. I sent him a message this morning and inquired if he is available and at what price.

    Hahahahahaha

The most amazing thing about his play is his ability to force vet Dmen to panic on the forecheck, partly due to his size but more due to his positioning. He’s getting real good off the puck and with his reads on the forecheck. That plus his passing ability.

I read a cool quote about Slafkovskys biggest strength being his ability to improve. He looks so different today then he did even one year ago and its just going to get better imho.

I had him with a few of my guys in that "don't want to move but probably would for the right deal" sort of category and have graduated him to the "gamebreaker or bust" end of things- lol!

    Thanks everyone! Repped where possible.

The Slaf owner is asking for Mitch Marner, which I do not want to give up. I should have jumped on Slaf when he was available earlier this season!
