Surprised he managed a two year deal, but I guess the Pens figured the potential reward is worth it. Also, maybe it's a hedge in case Guentzel, who's a UFA to be but most figured would re-sign, decides to go elsewhere?

It's $800k. He can be waived/demoted without cap penalty. This is just a depth signing. Worst case he continues to produce for their minors team.

I am cheering for him to succeed. Always been a Bison King fan. I really thought when he came back from Finland that he had it figured out but the offense never came. He still was a really good checking player.

He would have been in the NHL if it wasn't for his surgeries. Hope he has enough legs under him to turn into a solid 3rd/4th liner.
