Ya I think the rework ends up giving the player more money up front, but reduces the cap hit. So He was given more money, and the team saved cap

Just read that Pitts has said Fields will be behind Wilson this season to learn. Expensive redshirt, but an interesting idea considering that they're only paying Wilson $1M this season.

Considering the Steelers made the playoffs with a mish mash of riff raff at QB, this should be a huge improvement for the offense. I like the 1 year "tutoring " of Fields. I would think it would be easier for the Steelers to make the post season this coming year? I've just jinxed them of course.

Apparently Fields declined 4 other destinations because he wanted Pitts. Likely to do with the organization and he is looking for a big pay day in 2025, so he wants somewhere that will elevate his value in a safe manner. Look at what Tribusky got out of his career because of the slight bump in Pitts vs Chicago.

So maybe Washington, Titans, Pats, and Raiders all wanted him, but Fields wanted the playoffs.
