Vrabel and Mayo have to be the top candidates for the Patriots. However, I wanna see Vrabel in Atlanta with Bijan.

Bill could go to Alabama and completely shock the world lol. But he'll def get another job, the guy can still build and coach a defensive game with the best of them, but can't manage an offense. If he went to a team like Washington with Bieniemy, that could be a great duo.

So did Bill the GM fire Bill the coach and staying as GM, or is he finished completely with them?

Gone gone (expected to part ways)

Kraft and Bill are having a presser today about it.

Honestly, this is probably a good thing for the Pats. They have been in decline since Brady left, and other than putting together a solid D, the offense has struggled for years.

Maybe a new direction is the right thing to do.

The thing I respect about his coaching is that he was/is able to change his play style to suit the situation, based on the weaknesses of the other side. He wasn't just running all the time "because we're a running team." Credit obviously goes to Brady as well for being similarly able to adapt to whatever the gameplan called for.

Not surprised he is out as GM/Coach.
I am surprised he is not staying on as a token "advisor to the owner" of some sort.
I assumed when he left the Patriots he would be done with football (he is also 71 years old).

If he pops up with another organization that would be pretty surprising to me. Belichick in a Panthers golf shirt feels wrong.

He did talk in a manor that would suggest he'll be back with the Patriots. Either in the office or on a 1day token contract to retire as a Patriot.

Nick Saban should take the Patriots job and Bill Belichick should take the Alabama HC job....

Belichick is 14 wins from Don Shula's record. He might not stick around running ~4-13 teams for 4 seasons to break it, but he's definitely going to take at least 1 more job to try.

Saban would likely be a terrible NFL coach.

I wonder what good team will fire their coach and hire Bill to try to become great and get him his 14 wins.

Saban would likely be a terrible NFL coach.
Saban coached as a DC in Cleveland 1991-94 and was the head coach in Miami 2005-06. The Miami defense in 2006 was top 5, but the offense was blah but that was from the management choosing to go after Culpepper the yr before instead of Drew Brees. Then in 2006 needing to go with Harrington and Lemon.

But ya, Saban wouldn't do well in the NFL otherwise he'd be back in it by now.

Tepper is probably going to pay Belichick like $20M a year and it's likely going to go terribly.

Chargers would be my best bet.
