Not distasteful at all.
The ONLY thing that is distasteful is making a trade which is outright collusion, or "implied collusion" that is you make a trade knowing it will not help your team but you do not care and are trying to "stick it" to other teams in the league.
Just because you are in a playoff spot does not mean you are a contender or a "buyer" you can be a seller.
If you are 5-7th and can make a trade that "almost guarantees a win" next season that is a shoe-in.
